I just got into a car accident and is fresh from a state of shock. Car skid while going down a bend. It was raining and probably the brakes wasn't strong enough for the speed im going. The car spun and hit the railings. Thank godness no other vehicles was around at that time and thus no one was hurt. Its going to hurt the pocket though, with the bills expecting to hit $8000 plus.
I realised that in my life so far, im constantly reminded. A reminder not to get too carried away at times, not to get too confident, to review my life constantly and to take a fresh perspective. The reminders has been getting stronger as life goes on. I was probably too engaged in my work, my studies, my gf, to take a breather and spend some serious time contemplating. The distractions got into me and i just rush blindly everywhere, anywhere. This reminder was probably long overdue.
Prior to tonight, i thought i was in a state of peace. I thought the confident i carried was a result of me being able to keep a calm mind and maintain inner peace. I thought my peace within puts me above, enabling me to ignore all life distractions and focus on the task at hand. Realization: I overestimated and overrated myself. I was blinded. I was lost. I relinquish the times where i spend time reflecting what's important and whats not. I thought i know and i thought its enough.
Im glad no was was injure in this accident. I do hope that with the raining season this couple of weeks, forumers reading this post would be able to benefit from my experience. Please drive slow. Drive safe.
Forumers reading this post, kindly share your opinions as well. In the perspective of buddhism, how does the car accident evolves? From why it will happen, to the life lessons its trying to bring. Im still very much in shock and needs to regain my feet and rest. Awaiting for your contributions tomorow.
Thank you.
there are 1000 and 1 reason to an car accident .It is totally virtually impossible to list out the conditions and causes for an car accident
first ,what is your state of mind when you are driving
If you are chanting when you are driving , u might have lost awareness , which is a dangerous thing
Do not chant when you are driving until you are not aware of oncoming traffic .
Second ,your crash would have been better in karmic sense than something more serious - you get injured
third , it could be you are fatigue from work and your body could not respond to sudden traffic conditions
fourth ,could be the workings of spirits ,that lurks around this hour.
the list is exhaustive , which I think its not worth keep listing it out
I understand you need alot of rest .Just listen to the mantra or Recite the name of the Buddha for a day ,and dont go back to work ,to regain the peace for a challenging days ahead
Alot of People think there is either one cause to everything ,but in Buddhism
we are taught that infinite causes and condition could made up one accident
Since you are not injured ,just clear the 8000 bill and carry on in life .
Life is too short to think abt 8000.Our life is worth more than that 8k.
