Question is whether can dharmas be defiled as energy can be wasted.Originally posted by Spnw07:I quoted the law of conservation of energy due to a common idea/concept mentioned in most scriptures, "Neither arises/created nor disappears/destroyed."
This is most evident in the Heart Sutra: "Shariputra, all dharmas are empty of characteristics. They are not produced. Not destroyed, not defiled, not pure, and they neither increase nor diminish."

Both huge masses of anti-matter and matter in a small space can make black holes with different spins and formation.Originally posted by sinweiy:/\

I think for certain people, they can contemplate and grasp a basic concept of rebirth if they think along the lines of the first law of thermodynamics which states 'Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it can only be converted from one form to another”.
'On Earth, the incoming energy from the sun is in relative balance to the amount of heat loss from our planet. This holds true for the universe as a whole. In other words, over the years the amount of energy in our universe has remained constant. While energy is constant, its form and quality are continually changing..'

My limited understanding is our consciousness is something akin to energy. It cannot be created nor destroyed, but transformed from one form to another.
So rebirth is a process that involves the 'conversion' of our consciousness from its previous existence of one particular form to another 'new' consciousness. The special thing is this new consciousness can inherit characteristics or behaviour of the previous one, but yet considered different in form.
So it is neither exactly new or old in the absolute sense.
It is this law of physics that helps to me to roughly grasp the concept of rebirth after a long time of reflection and reading up.
Other types of scientific explanations supporting rebirth concepts are too 'chim' for me to understand at all. haha.
Excuse me, that's not creation of energy, that's conversion of mass into energy and vice versa. Funny thing is for both process to take place, the initiation step is endothermic, not exothermic.Originally posted by the.owl:except the flaw in your reasoning is that conciousness needs energy, and when we die, the energy is released by us decomposing and stuff like that and dissipated, LOLOL fail.
also, it is possible to create energy, ever heard of E=MC^2, Beech!?!?!?!??!
what divided?Originally posted by maggot:It can be divided![]()
No.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:AEN, I think we are limiting the topic of discussion to Buddhism and physics, should we open up to all catergories of science?(biology and chemistry)
Same person?Originally posted by maggot:So fast responded

Which means dividing although it is still the same person![]()
Real quaint answer... Iwas thinking on bringing up chemistry as Buddhism can be define as a psycho-social catalyst. But then....Originally posted by An Eternal Now:No.
Can agree with your statement.Originally posted by Ser~pent:

cannot agree with your statement due to my little understanding of rebirth thru physicsOriginally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Can agree with your statement.
Then you agree that rebirth is true? I have always disagree with the concept of rebirth.Originally posted by Ser~pent:cannot agree with your statement due to my little understanding of rebirth thru physics![]()

How abt divided consciousness energy for the next generation eg our DNA children and that is rebirth
I too disagree on that theory.Originally posted by Ser~pent:How abt divided consciousness energy for the next generation eg our DNA children and that is rebirth![]()

Since E=MC*....so it can be divided aka laws of karmic energy
[edited due to somebody's little understanding of dimensional planes]
Your physics buey zhun also. Energy is change in energy lah.Originally posted by Ser~pent:Since E = mc*....so it can be divided akin eternity![]()
WTF, all flunk physics is it?Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Your physics buey zhun also. Energy is change in energy lah.
Better read your equation again....Originally posted by Ser~pent:Since E=MC*....so it can be divided akin rebirth of Karma (Gravity)![]()

Fun fun with your "Equation"....Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Better read your equation again....
Change in energy can be divided into useful and wasted energy. Does it really represent the rebirth of Karma?
