I have seen and experience many of these, especially in temples,Buddhist group, etc. The practitioner will thens to challenge each other about their attainment or practice. How much he or she has done!Have you done this or have you done that! This is more powerful!Must do this, must practice that!Follow by,I have do this and practice that.Have you done it? Running around chasing and seeking non stop.Must be careful of this Virus. It create a verybig ego,if get caught by the Virus. And very difficult to delete off.Take care.

Hi canihelpyou02, I understand and share your concern. Personally, I think we can see it this way: we are all budding practitioners in our own way, at our own pace.
There are those who do not challenge verbally, directly or indirectly, but yet they behave indifferently towards those who they perceive as lazy, stubborn or ignorant. They will tend to stay with or behave more warmly towards those that they think are worth learning from or worthy of their respect. It is another 'virus' as well.
The only thing we can do is to continue to contemplate and reflect on ourselves personally, to check if we have those symptoms of the above 'viruses'. There are more, of course. But these two are what some would commonly be able to take note of.
It is only when we have truly achieved inner peace and wisdom in ourselves that we can help others reflect upon deep thoughts of biasedness and ego.
To summarise: In a way, you can look upon such 'viruses' as a good opportunity to practise compassion towards those infected, towards yourself too if you find yourself infected and continue to strive to heal yourself with wisdom (by clearing your thoughts and trying to understand Buddhist teachings from different ways till you get it 'right'.

Hello, from my understanding.. a true enlightened person does not challenge one another for ego sake...

Isis is right. True practitioners of the Buddha-Dharma do not go around bragging how well-accomplished they are in their knowledge or practice of the teachings.
That is quite bad actually. I think they are those who practice on their own, without any proper guidance one.
But seriously I seldom encounter that, even when I come to forum where everyone's identity is not open to each other, seldom got people boast about his practice.
Come to think of it, I hope I can come across this kind of people, very good to train my tolerance as well as constantly reminding me of my own practice.

Yup, I personally believe the above is the right mindset to cultivate for myself.
Not to let myself get angry easily at the challenges of any person in any way (eventually), and use those embarassing or difficult situations as a good opportunity to check on the progress of my inner cultivation.
Finally I hope all Buddhists will one day be able to achieve Buddha's standard: To regard all who challenge you in any way, with or without good intentions, with equal and great compassion.
Forgive my poor translation:
