May we grow metta in our hearts.
May all be well and happy.

Besides that, I read with disgust:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7389083.stm
"Burma's ruling military junta has approved the passage of some aid, but other offers have been spurned while many foreign aid workers are being held in a queue for visas."
Really pity those affected by the cyclone.
What buddha said is really true, life is very fragile.
Even if you stay in a brick house, with huge saving for the rest of your ife, you wouldn't know when death will come.
What I worry most now is there is a saying that south china will have an earthquake sometime this year followed by a 30 meter high tsunami that will affect Hong kong, hai nan, most likely japan and cause MILLION of people to die.
I don't know how true is this but let's dedicate our merits to them and pray for this disaster not to come.
i believe every thing has a cycle. the world is round, this world will have an end. if things come to a point where everything has to start all over again, it will..
so many things have happened, the world has come to a point that ppl has overuse resources, and mother nature has shown its anger, but ppl still never realised and do their part. instead they are just concern on their own 'face', sigh...
sorry to be pessimistic. just my point of view. live has to go on..
sigh.. more to come, really pity the ppl there. and for the rest of us when it happens to rest of world..

Yup indeed, this is why generating compassiona for the suffering is imperative. It ease the suffering of others and a good opportunity for us to practise compassion.

I think buddhism teach us to drop ,facing the natural disaster ,we really cannot do much, but don't be so afraid of it .As 弘一法师said before he dead 悲欣交åŠ

I agree that eventually everyone will die one day, and the earth will naturally be destroyed.
But as a buddhist, we should do our part to help sentient beings to reduce their suffering.

Theinngu Arahart from myanmar already predicted disasters coming in the future for myanmar people in his audio file.
1)Disaster for food
2)Disaster for war
3)Disaster for diseasesMyanmar gov hit and tortured the monk in the saffron revolution. Now the time is coming for to modify the Buddhism of people in myanmar. One more big earthquake is predicted coming in the future.
The civilians is always the innocent one. They already suffer enough under the military junta rule. Now the natural disaster again add up more burden to them.

true, we can't do much after the disaster happened.
I just hope that we can do something for the future. Keep our precepts, live a real buddhist life and dedicate our merits to stop the future disaster.
Seeing 10,000 people dying is sad and terrible enough, if 1 million people died in the next giant earthquake cum tsunami, it will be really sad.
Life is like this.Like someone ask the western god ,why we r the son of u,but u still create so many mischief in life. But this is the law.
If all happy no sorrow ,it's heaven .all sorrow no happy it's hell. The secular world it's inbetween of the two.

I don't think it is the so called 'god' intention to create all these natural disaster to kill the people. But I agree that our world is fact a mix of happiness and suffering.

Yes, there is no creator God.
The most critical question now is , why is the junta there refusing aids to go in to help their citizen . Which is more impt , life or foreign influence ?

I think the junta only refuse foreign personnel from coming in, not the aid itself.
I also dont know why they so stubborn. haiz...dharma ending age.
