Chasing material success as a buddhist

  Is this a contradiction in buddhist teachings?

  In our modern world, we cannot just pack up and bring our family to the woods to live as peasants like our forefathers did...so we have no choice but become a rat in the rat race keep on turning the wheel to nowhere till we die..

  Looking at sichuan earthquake, I realise how fragile our life is and whatever you have now may be gone tomorrow..family and your life..sigh

  In the end only nembutsu in your last breath
