In the Doraemon (Xiao Dingdang) cartoons, the genie-like Doraemon produces all kinds of incredible gadgetry in his attempts to better Nobita's (Daxiong) life. Seemingly without fail, Nobita uses each device successfully at first, before abusing it - causing Doraemon and himself more distress than joy. While we might instinctively point our fingers at Nobita for his continual foolishness, Doraemon is also at fault - for Doraemon never truly learnt... that Nobita never truly learnt from his mistakes. Directly helping Nobita with shortcuts becomes harming him instead, though indirectly. That assumed ultimately skilful became ultimately unskilful.
Sometimes, the best way to help is not to help. Just as toddlers can only be helped so much to take their first steps, parents have to "let go" at some point to let them do it themselves - even if it involves falling. Though it is common to think that "it's the thought that counts", the best of intentions should end with the best of results. If not, our good intentions are simply not good enough - probably because they were not adequately guided by wisdom. When in doubt about the consequences of our actions, it is best to reconsider them. Likewise, when certain about the consequences, it is best to reflect on whether we are really that sure! - Shen Shi'an

Heh heh.. Doraemon is my favourite manga character.
I remember in one particular episode, Doraemon and Nobita travelled back in time to locate Nobita's ancestors. I cannot remember how the story unfolds but the duo ended up helping some poor and starving villagers, and the villagers mistook Doraemon for Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva (Di Zhang Wang Pu Sa). Come to think of it, Doraemon's actions (in that episode) is very bodhisattva-like. He is compassionate, kind, selfless. He goes all the way to assist the needy and does not expect any repayment for his kindness.
i think saint seiya is more related to buddhism .

very interesting and thought provoking to have compared Xiao ding dang to this religion. xiao ding dang is also my favourite cartoon character too. he rarely got angry of daxiong, even though he always abuses his power every time. i agree that xiao ding dang is in the wrong becuse he always give in to daxiong.
however in the end, when daxiong got what he wants, only to find that both of them, or the group will get into trouble. it was then they realise their mistake. in one way, we have been taught that nothing in the world is free. you have to earn for things you desire. if you work hard enough, you will get to see results.
isn't the story of doraemon the same as spiderman??
with great power comes great responsibility??
