Is it a common Buddhist practice to release crabs into the sea.
I've just heard about this only 2 weeks ago?
What is the significance?
Why release crabs when it is so EXPENSIVE? Why not release cheaper?

I think each life is priceless, you can save any life you want... not necessarily crabs only. But please take note and not to release them at an unsuitable place. If one irresponsibly put lake water fish into sea water, it will cause them death, and vice versa.
When the festive seasons are here, a lot of animals and sea creatures will be killed for their meat. Well, every life is priceless. We don't discriminate what to save. Our objective is to save life. Some people purchase whatever is available in the market at there time. Of course, you have must knowledge to know where to set them free.
The chances of creating merits are plenty in daily life. Especially insects , they are very vulnerable to death.
