Hello Kitty also has buddha nature.
all sentient beings have buddha nature, what abt plants ? plants ain't manifestation of buddha nature ?
or plants have dharma nature ?
I confused .
Be thankful when we can read sutras.
all sentient beings have the potential to be buddha.

Master Shen Kai:
Whilst humans have consciousness, plants have sense, which is not the same as consciousness. Plants have an innate sense of light. If a plant grows in a spot with sufficient sunlight, its leaves flourish and can take a vibrant shade of green. Plants without a sense of light have plae leaves and are deficient in certain nutrients. Thus, plants cannot lack earth, water, fire, wind, space and sense. Animals cannot lack earth, water, fire, wind, space and consciousness.

My comments:
Humans have Buddha-nature, inanimate objects have dharma nature. Plants have a capacity to be aware and respond to environment, but they do not have capacity of discrimination, attachment, or to create karma, or to be reborn. Hence they are not sentient beings.
Thanks for your reply .
