I'm helping a friend here (Laoda99) advertise his wife's video for a competition. That video is done by her primary sch class. The video is about not involving in drunken driving. :) I think it's v nicely done and good effort is put into it and it shares an important message to everyone.

By the way, my mom recently almost died, bcos she drank quite a bit of wine, wasn't alert and almost got knocked by a car driving at high speed while crossing the road (like a few cm away from death). In fact the car hit her handbag, but not her. I also drank like 2 cups that time but probably wasn't as affected as her. (I really seldom drink but there was free wine at the restaurant and I just kept drinking.. lol) But I think my mom's incident is a sign I should refrain. And anyway it is against the 5th precept. I'm truly a bad example, I think most Buddhists in this forum don't drink.
Maybe, other Buddhist practitioners can share their experience and knowledge about the cons of drinking alcohol. Also I'm interested to see how your practice is affected by alcohol. (i.e. is your insight and samadhi being affected, and how?) For instance Ken Wilber says half a cup of wine is enough to make his non dual experience disappear, though our moderator Thusness says that reports that while the body is drunk and out of control, cannot walk straight, but awareness is still there and very clear... and non-dual is not impaired. That is my experience also, though I wasn't in nondual state at that time -- but I was still pretty alert. Thusness also say mindfulness may be impaired depending on the level of drunkedness.
Also, because of improved blood circulation, one becomes more daring, etc. (that's why can sometimes lead to stupid acts)
Close shave.
Buddhists are also ordinary human beings. I personally cant drink. I detest the taste and have no liking for alcohol. Sorry, i dont have much achievement in my cultivation, cant share anything. :p
You can't drink is even better. I have a Buddhist friend who also can't drink... it's good, so you have an excuse when your friend asks you to drink.. lol
Anyway I updated my post.
Attend functions, people cheers with alcohol. I cheers with my coke.
