  Please do not ignore this email and help to circulate this around. Voices of Harmony 2009 is a concert organised by Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (KMSPKS) for Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic (SBFC). This concert is fund raising for SBFC.

   

  SBFC's objective is to provide free medical services to the sick and needy, so as to relieve their suffering on illness and to help them lead a healthier and happier life, regardless of nationality, race and religion. All charges for elderly patients aged 60 years and above are waived. SBFC has provided 7,421,424 free consultations from 1999-2008.

   

  Currently SBFC is operating at 6 branches. They are situated at densely populated areas across the island at Geylang west, Tanjong Pagar, Redhill, Delta, Ang Mo Kio and Jurong East, to provide caring medical and rehabilitative services to patients. With the generous support from fellow Buddhist and general public, SBFC will always be able to strive and provide quality charitable medical services  to lower and middle echelons of our people.

  Following the advice and request of our spiritual director Lama Zopa Rinpoche, ABC will be organising and reciting the GOLDEN LIGHT Sutra and the Padmasambhava prayer this Saturday.   Venue: Amitabha Buddhist Centre, Level 2 Date: 14 Nov, Saturday Time: 2.00pm

  Dear Center Directors, students and friends,   You might have heard the Nepal news about the 500,000 animals that are going to be sacrificed over two days on 24th November (Ghaddimai animal sacrifice festival, happens every five years in the terrai).   The Buddha boy wrote to the organizers asking them not to do it but his request was rejected. It is a big Hindu festival and now the Buddha boy is thinking to go there and try to stop it. I think unless one has special powers to show, people will not listen. It is a big religion with not 100 or 1000 followers but millions. Now it seems to have become a problem in Nepal like the problem with shoes and the Hindus in Pashupati. Now probably no matter what the reality is they will think it is the Buddhists who are making problems.   My observation shows that the Buddha boy won't be able to stop it. Possibly some animal rights organisations might be able to help, but it's not sure. If western organisations and people like Nobel Peace (laureates) ask, maybe could help, but it would need many.   It came out good to read the Golden Light Sutra 100 times so i have asked Kopan gompa to send some monks to read it at the stupa and make strong prayers for the sacrifice not to happen, to dedicate like that and of course dedicate for world peace.   During the the meditation retreat, Rinpoche will give a progressive guidance on the actual practice of Dzogchen in accordance with Longsal and Longchen lineages of Nyingma tradition, to teach on how to develop practice continuously on the nature of mind, including to teach and fine-tune the methods of meditation, to rectify the problems encountered during meditation, to correct the mistakes in the practice of Tsa, Lung Thigle ( Nadi,Prana and Bindu), and to give the instructions on how to engage in practice through the three doors (Body, speech and mind). Dzogchen practice is non sectarian and all the actual practices of the four traditions can be contained into one practice.

Rinpoche said that everyone of us have deep Dharmic connections with Chenrezig, it is very beneficial for us to recite the Mani mantra. It will help us recite Mani mantra more effectively when we have received the empowerment of Chenrezig.

  A Brief Introduction to Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche

   

  Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche was born in 1975 at Pema in Qinghai, China. He was endowed with the name Menchog Gyalbo by Khenchen Oshe at the age of three. Osel Rinpoche recognised him as a reincarnated Tulku and named him Tuden Rinchen Nyima when he was eight. He was ordained and received his novice vow at the age of 14.

   

  At the age of 15, Rinpoche went to Seda area in Sichuan and relied on Khenpo Pema Choeying Kyabdal （Khenpo Choekyab） who was regarded as Milarepa of the time and observed very pure precepts. In six years, he studied many sutras and commentaries on Vinaya (Precepts) and received many empowerments and instructions of Nyingma tradition from Khenpo Choekyab.

   

  At the age of 21, Rinpoche came to Larong Five- Sciences Buddhist Institute. From Choeje Jigme Phuntsok, he received extensive teachings on different sects of Tibetan Buddhism, including Nyingma, Gelug, Kadampa, Kagyu, Sakya etc, and studied the teachings of Mipham Rinpoche and Choeje Jigme Phuntsok.

   

  At the age of 26, following the prophecy of Wisdom Dakini, Rinpoche came to Yachen Monastery in Sichuan. When he met Jamyang Lungdok Gyaltsen Rinpoche (Lama Achuk Rinpoche), tremendous devotion arose in his mind. He then served Lama Rinpoche perfectly in the three ways of pleasing the guru, and received many profound teachings from him, especially the empowerments on luminous essence of the mind and instructions in accordance with Longsal and Longchen Nyingtig of Nyingma tradition. He practised the pith instructions given by Lama Rinpoche day and night. His practice and realisation has been recognised and highly praised by Lama Rinpoche. He became one of the eminent heart disciples of Lama Rinpoche.

   

  Lama Rinpoche recognised him as a reincarnation of Jigmey Gyalwey Nyugu, he said, “Jigmey Lingpa was one of the heart disciples of Longchenpa and his lineage holder was Jigmey Gyalwey Nyugu. Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche is the reincarnation of Jigmey Gyalwey Nyugu. I give this authentic prophecy to him who possesses the wisdom of knowing all as they are and as they appear. ”

   

  From the age of 18, Rinpoche started turning the wheels of the Buddha Dharma both in Sutrayana and Mantrayana to Tibetan and Chinese devotees. For the past eight years, following the advice of Lama Rinpoche, Rinpoche has transmitted the teachings of Dzogchen (Great Perfection) to many local and foreign devotees in more than ten countries and regions, including Brazil, Germany, England, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kang and Taiwan.

   

  Rinpoche yearned to undertake retreat in cave for life like Jigmey Gyalwey Nyugu. However Lama Rinpoche instructed him that he should not stay in solitary practice and that he should compassionately and extensively give the teachings of Dzogchen to sentient beings instead. Therefore to fulfil the wishes of his guru Lama Rinpoche, Rinpoche has wholeheartedly transmitted the teachings of Dzogchen to the disciples with karmic connections all over the world.

  Once again, we are organising this fasting retreat at Amitabha Buddhist Centre.
   
  Nyung Nay is a powerful Mahayana practice that helps us to generate strong compassion toward all sentient beings, wishing to free them from all suffering by relying on the compassionate qualities of Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig. 
   
  Through the practice of fasting, making prayers and prostrations, the Nyung Nay practitioner purifies obscurations and accumulates vast merit, and can strengthen the resolve to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings.
   
  The Nyung Nay practice is thus a perfect practice opportunity for those with the Mahayana motivation.

  SBFC's objective is to provide free medical services to the sick and needy, so as to relieve their suffering on illness and to help them lead a healthier and happier life, regardless of nationality, race and religion. All charges for elderly patients aged 60 years and above are waived. SBFC has provided 7,421,424 free consultations from 1999-2008.

   

  Currently SBFC is operating at 6 branches. They are situated at densely populated areas across the island at Geylang west, Tanjong Pagar, Redhill, Delta, Ang Mo Kio and Jurong East, to provide caring medical and rehabilitative services to patients. With the generous support from fellow Buddhist and general public, SBFC will always be able to strive and provide quality charitable medical services  to lower and middle echelons of our people.

  ABOUT PALCHEN RINPOCHE

  Sonam Zangpo Palchen Rinpoche was born in Nangchen, Qinghai. He is recognized by Jamgon Tai Situ Rinpoche as the reincarnation of Sonam Zangpo Rinpoche. The previous Sonam Zangpo Rinpoche was the Lama of late Kyabje Drubwang Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche, who had spent his life in retreat.  

   

  Since young, the present Palchen Rinpoche followed Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche to Kongya Monastery, where he received many precious empowerments, scriptural transmissions and oral instructions. At a later period, Jamgon Tai Situ Rinpoche bestowed him with the Bodhisattva vow and the Three Levels of Ordination. After which, Palchen Rinpoche entered a three-year retreat at Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche's retreat centre, where he practiced with great diligence the Profound Naro Chodruk and the generation and completion stages. Jamgon Kontrul Rinpoche also transmitted him with the Pointing-Out instructions of the Mahamudra.

   

   

  Before Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche passed into Nirvana, he entrusted Palchen Rinpoche with all his responsibilities. In his own words, "Palchen is my representative and he is of great benefit to Dharma teachings. Thus Chogyur Lingpa's prophecy will be fulfilled along with the wishes of myself ".

  索�桑波，巴金�波切的�世，具足净行妙严和具生之广大�德，对寺院有��大的贡献。他是尊者桑�丹增�波切的上师之一，在本寺历�上是一��常��的活佛。他学识渊�，精通教法，先�拜大�法王�蒋贡康楚�波切和�泽�波切为师学习密续和教法；他一生用于闭关，沿�历代噶举上师修法的足迹精进修�，获得很高的�悟。他在83�入涅，第�三世泰锡度�波切认�他是马尔巴大师的化身。

   

  巴金�波切1968年出生于�海的囊谦，出生时�伴有许多瑞相。尊贵的泰锡度�波切和桑�丹增�波切共�认�巴金为索�桑波�波切的转世。当雅�竹旺桑�丹增�波切从狱中释放时，巴金的父亲迎请�波切到他的家里。父亲对�波切说到，我有五个儿�，您�以带走任何一个。桑�丹增�波切�常欢喜地选定年少的巴金，并说这男孩将会帮助公雅寺弘扬佛法。他为巴金传授皈�戒，并为他命�为朋迪旺秋。�波切把他带回公雅寺，在那里学习仪规，念诵和法器。桑�丹增�波切�常欢喜有这样的弟�，传授给他很多�顶��传和讲解。

  1A.  From West, exit PIE into Eng Neo Avenue, then turn LEFT into Dunearn Road.
  1B.  From East, exit PIE into Adam Road, then turn RIGHT into Bukit Timah Road.

  After Duchess Road, keep RIGHT. When near Hwa Chong Junior College, U-turn into Dunearn Road.
  2.  Along Dunearn Road, keep LEFT. After Watten Estate Road, turn LEFT into
  Shelford Rd. Slow down before entering the basement car park on your LEFT.

  About  H.E. Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche
  The 1st Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche, Tashi Paljor was the root lama of Mikyö Dorje, the 8th Karmapa. The present 10th Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche was recognized by H.H. 16th Karmapa, who saw through His undiluted wisdom eye the birthplace, the name of the parents, the year and sign of birth and thus gave clear indications. Nyenpa Rinpoche was born in a family of practitioners; Sangye Lekpa and the mother Karma Tshewang Choden, who resided at Guru Rinpoche’s temple, the Tiger Nest Pharo Tagtsang in Bhutan. He was invited to Rumtek Monastery where he was enthroned by H.H. Karmapa and given the name of Karma Palden Rangjung Thrinle Kunkyab Tenpe Gyaltsen Pal Sangpo. At the age of 5 he started his studies, writing and reading as well as the outer and inner sciences relying on H.H. Karmapa, H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and other great masters. In particular he received from H.H. the novice and Bodhisattva vows, many empowerments of the highest Yoga Tantra, instructions on Chagchen Da Ser (Moonbeams of Mahamudra), Marig Münsel (Eliminating the Darkness of Ignorance), Chöku Tzubtsug (Pointing the finger at the Dharmakaya) etc. and thus was introduced to the ultimate realisation. He completed 10 years of studies at the Nalanda Institute in Rumtek and obtained the title of an Acharya. Thereafter he was teaching for 3 years at the institute. Nyenpa Rinpoche is one of the most learned Rinpoches in both philosophy and tantric rituals. Presently he lives in his monastery Benchen Phuntsok Dargyeling Kathmandu, Nepal giving teachings to the monks and other disciples. The rest of the time he spends in retreat.

  I dont see anything wrong with killing animals ? But since you see killing animals is bad.

  Why dont u pray for the whole world ? Many animals are being killed everyday. But i do no think killing animals will create any negative karma.

  My friend got a book from Singpost asking people not to kill or eat animals, he threw the book away.

  Can you spend a few minutes watching the video below and let us know whether do you find anything wrong with killing animals ? If your answer is still no, then I guess you do not have the basic compassion that human beings should have.

  Don't just take the words from someone saying that there is nothing wrong with killing animals. See and feel for yourself.

  Yes killing humans are wrong but nothing wrong with killing animals.

  If so, the law should ban killing of animals. Only endangered spiecies are protected.

  No laws protecting animals doesn't mean it is right.

  Smoking isn't banned because it is too pervasive to be banned, doesn't mean smoking is good.

  Similarly, banning the killing of animals is not feasible because it will only go underground as it is too pervasive.

  You should take dawnfirstlight post seriously, and consider the fact that animals are suffering a lot of unnecessary torment from human.

  Yes, you said it is cruel because you have compassion towards the animals which you are not aware of. Can you still remember we feel a sharp pain when we sometimes accidentally cut ourselves with a knife or anything that is sharp ?

  Robots do not have own judgement and feelings, they act according to instructions. Humans act according to instructions with own judgement and feelings. Does compassion need to be legalised ?

  There are many things on earth which is legally right but morally wrong. Too many for me to name them.

  Eat less meat not just for the sake of the animals but for our mother earth.

  Those are protected by law. See the difference ? Even though you kill cats and dogs, you will be jailed at most. Kill humans and you will be hung or jailed.

  You can slaughter pigs and chicken without legal problems. Many are slaughtered everyday.

  The problem is no matter how cruel the act is , it does not mean that there's karma involved. Most of my school friends , family members and relatives do not believe in karma. A small portion of the people I asked believed in it only.

  I hardly eat meat because of health reasons. Killing animals are cruel but I do not believe in Karma .Since they are mostly legalised,I think killing is not wrong.
