do you know that there are so many people standing at station control at somerset, esp when it is a peak hour in orchard!!! are you going to approach everyone you think is the person? why not PM and then if ok, exchange hp no and when you reach there, call that person. if you are not comfy giving your hp no, then better dun meet, unless you want to do a small placard and hold the placard on your hands at 7pm when you reach there. the placard can be, your nickname or Ajahn Bramh.

Hi Isis, didnt you go for the talk earlier?
It was a witty and hilarous stories and anecdotes by Ajahn Bramn. MTV buddhist you know what lol. its Mahayana, Theravada and Vajrayana buddhist, combined into one. get rid of the labels, we do not need labels to be a buddhist.
I like the monster demon entering the palace anecdotes. the demon monster is one large ugly, odious, smelly demon. when the servants, ministers, guards all hurled abuse, spat, try to attack it, the monster grew larger in size. when the king approach the demon with kindness, compassion, loving kindness, mercy, the demon shrank in size and later disappear into oblivion. the monster feeds on anger. the more you feed it with vulgarities and anger, the more it became uglier and smellier.
I am going for tommorrow's session to hear his interesting and hilarious anecdotes. looking forward to it.

its not near from the mrt mind you. will take about 15 mins to reach there. I know where to take bus liao, take bus 139 to there.

Hi Rooney,
We were there at 7pm, not so crowded, 3 of us plus 1 lady just right in front of the stn ctrl, and we waited for you till 7.10pm. Ya, i can understand it's not tt comfortable to ask strangers, my apologies too for missed ur mails.Yet, in life there are times to forget abt self in order to find the way
. We learnt.
Did you manage to get a seat at the 7th flr auditorium? If you r going tonite, do go there earlier, as one volunteer told us it's already half full at 6.30pm.
I can't attend tonite due to work. May be you can share with us after the talk.
Cheers.

i was there a couple of time but have a vague memory of the direction.
It is easier to walk from temple to MRT because can follow the stream of people and also no need to rush. Next time can try walking because it is cooling and a good exercise. ;p
No for the talks because i'm thoroughly exhausted from work.

I see. i sweat easily, so I prefer to take a bus to there. Although I am tired, I still went and for a while, I almost doze off during the talk.
tonight topic is choices in life. as usual, he gave a few stories and anecdotes to bring his message across.
there are 4 types of choices / decisions one can make, hopefully one dun make these. choices/decisions based on illwill, stupidity, fear and selfishness.
There was a hooha in Oct 09 as he presided over the ordination of the bhikuni in perth. I dun remember the details, but he said some monks who are unhappy over this, wrote to spore buddhist lodge to complain about ajahn brahm over this espisode in the hope that they would not alow ajahn brahm to conduct his talk there. It failed.
Ajahn Brahm didnt do anything wrong iy was alright to ordain the women into the order and he presided over the ceremony in Perth. He said in Thailand, there werent much or any bhikuni whereas in sri lanka there were some 2000 bhikunis there.
not all monks who wear robes and real monks. some monks may be adhering to the Vinaya and studied and practise the dhamma, alas they dunno the spirit of the dhamma, just know how to follow the custom and rites ie form over susbstance.
There's lots of inspirations and learning points from Ajahn Brahm's talks. Just check it out on Youtube.
Here's a talk about loneliness and the best attitude to have toward it:
