do you accept teachings that were from the masters that are not from the historical Buddha? some of the Mahayana teachings were not taught by the Buddha, but by some of the masters.
as for me, I tend to follow the theravada way because of the authentic teachings taught by the Buddha. I am in a dilemma cos Mahayana aspirations for Buddhahood is a great vow. I dunno if the Buddha did encourage his disciples to strive for Buddhahood? I read that the Buddha predicted the Buddhahood of some of his disciples, but are there acknowledged and concurred by the Theravada side?
Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Theravada talks about the next Buddha as Maitreya. other prophecies of various disciples probably come from Mahayana sutras. As for buddhahood I highly recommend and as do all buddha s also recommend giving rise to aspiration to attain Supreme enlightenment and help all othet sentient beings
What is Theravada tradition in Chinese ? I wish to find out more about this tradition.
Clenched fist?? Talking abt me(see display pic)??? Grrrr...
Haha... Sigh.. when can I release my clenched fist.. You know, many times it is held clenched without me knowing... How can I know? But you see...I have clenched it for so long, I do not know how to unclench it. And since I have clenched it for so long, I don't really mind clenching it longer.. Would unclenching it really be better for me?
