  By the way for those who don't know, sanath is a Jodo Shinshu pure land priest. So anything pure land related can consult him.

  Partially yes, because it is due to the merits of the Sutras itself. Of course, does not mean one can commit all sorts of things and then chant the Name (Namo Amituofo/Namo Amida Butsu) or the Sutras thinking one can "cleanse" oneself.

  What is Jodo Shinshu?  Sounds Japanese.

  I am a non buddhist can I help to chant to help my mum go rebirth at pureland?

  I actually not sure where she is now.   I saw flash of white light and once or twice flash of blue light in my house at night.   I believe she comes back.
