Hi everyone,
Happy CNY~
I forgotten the book which I read before...
Ever heard of the chinese idiom 心猿马?(xin1 yuan2 yi4 ma3)
Sun Wu Kong is liken the mind, while the White Horse is intention?
But I am not too sure about Pigsty and Sandy.
Pigsty seems to be related more to lust and greed, while Sandy is anger and rage.
Tang San Zang is like us... We have to restrain our minds when tempted by external causes...
Slight tinge of Buddhism right....? ;p
You have excellent understanding.
In Consciousness-Only (Yogacara) school:
Sun Wu Kong is the sixth consciousness
- incredibly influential, imaginative, agile and powerful, can rise to heaven, can go to deep sea, one somersault 108000 miles
- if used correctly, can beat all the evils (evil thoughts), can understand emptiness (Wu Kong 悟空 means understanding emptiness), if used wrongly can create havoc
Ever wonder why Wu Kong can never escape the Buddha's palm?
Because he is still trapped in samsara?_(|)_

cos they are one and the same, running away is like dog chasing its tail hehe :)
The answer will depend on what you understand about ultimate truth in Buddhism so there is no right or wrong answer depending on your perspective and understanding.
Wu Kong thought that space is real & universe is bounded ... so he keeps performing his somersaults until he hit the "5 finger mountain" (which is none other than the Buddha's 5 fingers) and he urinated / wrote there to prove that he had been to the boundary of universe.
In simple words, space is dependent originated/arising. Buddha's manifestation is omni-present at all space-time.
