from the names of the various Buddhas, it seems that all the Buddhas are from around India but why is that so ?
Lets say there's a person name Vajra or Diamond.
Vajra is the sanskrit name, but Diamond is its meaning.
Doesn't mean if the Buddha has a Sanskrit name it means he is from India.
Maybe millions of years ago, they had another language, but the meaning remains the same.
The only historical Buddha in our times is Shakyamuni Buddha.
All other Buddhas you hear are either ancient (long forgotten times) Buddha or other universes' Buddhas.
This doesn't mean there aren't anyone who is enlightened and liberated, for in Buddha's times alone he had thousands of students who are enlightened and liberated, and there continue to be such people today, even in this forum.
However being 'enlightened and liberated' as an arhant or bodhisattva is still not the same as Buddhahood, as Buddhahood confers things like omniscience, all powerful, expedient means, perfection of all virtues, etc.
If I say the names of Buddhas are:-
Sakya Thupa
Opagme
Menla
Jampa
What you think?
First one is Shakyamuni Buddha, the others are other universes' Buddhas. I'm not sure who is Jampa.

Maitreya
does it matter if the Buddha is indian, chinese or arab? is the skin important or the message?
i just find it weird that they seem to come from India only, maybe you need to be an Indian to achieve buddhahood.............maybe that's why there are so many different races, each one has a different purpose ??

I see. Maitreya is future Buddha, he is still a Bodhisattva.
Buddha is a prince of India.

First of all you must understand that in any particular age, there is only one Buddha. In our current planet, and our current age, the Buddha is Shakyamuni Buddha.
All mentionings of other Buddhas are either from other universes or long past or predictions of future Buddhas.
As those predictions/mentions are made by the current Shakyamuni Buddha in India, it is of course being spoken in Indian.
i see............roger...........roger...............yeah, it makes sense now............
so that means it'll be hundreds of thousands of years or even longer before Maitrya will come ? or is he going to be in another universe ?
by then, humans would have been long gone.................

Yes. Unfortunately, we will not be able to see Maitreya attain Buddhahood in this life. It will be very very long. Maitreya is currently residing in another realm, the Tushita heaven, waiting for the ripe conditions to take human birth. Actually Maitreya does appear on Earth from time to time as a human emanation, but that is still a Bodhisattva, not a Buddha. A bodhisattva is someone on the path to Buddhahood, and for Maitreya he is very close, already 10th bhumi.

This is not 100% sure. But Indians are closely related to the celestial beings and they descended from there, in a sense they are a superior race by birth. Indian is considered an Aryan race.
Even now, i feel that India is a country more permeated by spirituality (not just Buddhism) than many other places. And also, Bodhgaya is a vajra throne, meaning, it is where all Buddhas will attain enlightenment, it is a place that will not be destroyed even at the end of the eon during the fire, wind, water calamities etc. All Buddhas will be Indians, meaning born near that area, whatever name it is called.
To be born in certain kinds of countries or races is also somewhat related to one's merits. Certain races requires higher merits to be reborn in.
I think this is not going to be well-received by some people. If so, just consider it my weird opinion.
why do you arrived at this conclusion? someone told you? did any venerable able to answer the question posed?

Buddha's appearance is very rare indeed. guess how long the next buddha will appear in our world between now and when he arrives? for a buddha to appear, the previous teachings of the buddha must disappear. when the world has forgotten the previous buddha's teaching, will the buddha appear. not only that, the conditions for the buddha's appearance must be right also lar.

Yes it is true. There are countless Buddhas throughout the universes.

i don't think so lah...................otherwise, they wouldn't have a caste system that's so super jialat.............they may be more ''spiritual'' than many others as they have a lot of yogis and ascetics but i don't think they're a superior race....................
how i wish that after i conk off, i can be a super duper omni-powerful ghost.................i'm gonna be really really ''friendly'' with all the elite PAP members and their families..............LOL
either that or i become a rock..............or cloud..............

The only way you can do anything useful to yourself (e.g. become enlightened) or to society (in whatever ways you want - spiritual, political, whatever) is to be a human again. In Buddhism human birth is one of the most precious things.
