The Bodhivastu Stupa will be of unprecedented importance, helping to
ensure peace and prosperity by quelling the myriad sufferings of our
modern times. Stupas both large and small yield incalculable merit
energy.
Stupas both large and small yield incalculable merit
energy. For this reason, many wisdom representatives from foreign
countries have constructed stupas in America.
They are commonly
constructed in Thailand, Burma, Sri Lanka, Nepal, China, and Tibet,
because it is a Buddhist custom. According to Buddhist thought, stupas
increase wisdom, compassion, enlightened activity, and energy, thereby
decreasing the likelihood of misfortunes such as famine, wars, or damage
from floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, and hurricanes.
The
Bodhivastu Stupa will be of unprecedented importance, helping to ensure
peace and prosperity by quelling the myriad sufferings of our modern
times. The meaning of Bodhivastu:
Bodhi: Altruistic, compassionate,
enlightened mind; perfect knowledge or wisdom by which a human becomes a
Buddha (an awakened being); the extinction of greed, hatred, and
delusion.
Vastu: The auspicious design and building of objects
and environments in harmony with physical and metaphysical forces. The
seat, realm, or place of an abiding substance, essence, or worthy
object.
Bodhivastu: The Auspicious Manifestation of Perfected
Compassionate Awakening
Bodhivastu will have the power to herald
in a new era of ultimate wisdom, peace, and brother- and sisterhood.
Bodhivastu will be constructed on consecrated ground with a pure
motivation of inclusiveness. It will be made with perfect proportions
and contain sacred consecrations, universal prayers, and several major
Buddhist relic troves of past saints, extending back to Kashyapa Buddha.
The
blessing waves that emanate from the sacred relics of great beings of
peace, those who have passed beyond confusion, have the power to pervade
all realms when properly enshrined in such an enlightened architecture.
By our pure intention, these blessing waves will reach out throughout
the world, anchoring our pure intention for peace and prosperity for
all.
The goal is to make Bodhivastu of a similar size to
Borobudur Stupa in Indonesia (over one hundred yards on each side) and
bigger than Bodhanath Stupa in Nepal.
The visions of the
construction of Bodhivastu arose simultaneously in the minds of two
close Lama friends, Lama Rangbar Nyimai Ozer (Yugyal Tulku) of the
United States and Lama Tsampa Laykyi of Bhutan. Although the idea seemed
almost impossible in scale, various meditative signs arose naturally
while considering what could be done to help save the only planet we
have come to know as ours.
These two Lamas have already erected a
65-meter prayer flag on Prophecy Mountain (Nagarjuna's mountain in
Kathmandu, Nepal) to usher in and form an auspicious mark for Lama
Rangbar's trip to the United States to commence the Bodhivastu project.
