So can Yi Guan Dao now be gates of entry for Buddhism now?
as whole, No. just pick books because of the content, that u mention and practice as a Buddhist not as an yi guan dao praxis.
Tai Shang gan Yin Pian(no need to say as said already), Tao Te Ching(can read at certain level), qing jing ching(? don't know what), Wu jing Si shu(can read as pleasure), Da Xue(?), Zhong Yong(can read for pleasure), holy Bible(can read at certain level), Quran(can read at certain level), Diamond Sutra(can read, but this is ch'an sect. also depend on school), Platform Sutra(same as Diamond cutter) and almost all buddhist sutras (read can, no need to say).
Ohh .. Expression !!! Ok .. Yi Kwan Tao's highest expression for Buddha is same, there is total no reason for you to bann yikwantao then.

the meaning must first be understood.

??
sinweiy, so nothing wrong with Ven Ck picking Tai shang gan yin pian and dizigui out as entry for buddhism BUT totally wrong for Yikwantao to pick out even more sutras as entry to Buddhism.
Btw, it's Zhong Yong not Jin Yong.
oh u reply to Weychin..ok...lol...
sinweiy, how do you understand the meaning of Yi kwan Tao teachings first ? have u ? and if u have, pls share

without the label, Ven Ck picking 190++ stories of cause and effect plus simple ways of being a good student and child.
Yikwantao mixed up too many already.
truth may shift with one's understanding and use of language and its meaning may change in time with intentions, new learning or discovery or insights....interpretations can also be misinterpreted....
Weechun , why don't you go and visit yi kwan tao in redhill /sengkang yourself? If you are just a visitor, do you think you will get to see the "inner secret" of the sand tray. Dream on. You got to be an accepted member to be allowed into this ritual.
Yi Kwan tao rojaks all the good teachings, put into their bowl, mix them up and become theirs.
Yi kwan tao wants you to bow to their founder, the founder's wife and mother, you want to do that ?
sidetrack
this thread and previous similar ones quite good for practice as observer.
read post... thoughts arise... observe thoughts... thoughts pass
thanks guys and gals :)

not refering to the understanding of the meaning of YKT, btw...
i mean i understand what i meant to say.
sinweiy, mix two ok? mix more then two is is cult?
(Btw, Ven CK mixed more then two. Got bible, quran, wen chang di jun and many more)
also, are you sure that the cause and effect as promoted in Gan Yin Pian is inline with Buddhism? Did the Buddha teach us that there is a god recording our good n bad deeds above our heads?
wiser, so it shows something, you have not verfied for yrself personally the pen tray thingy. According to Ven Chin Kung, he bows to Jesus, Mary, Taoist Gods when he visits their place of worship, so what's wrong with you bowing to yikwantao's founder?
Yikwantao rojaks all good teachings? then Ven CK never rojak?
Yikwantao never teach people to not kill, do good and be good person?

hehe thanks
good for many as well
may all be well and happy :)
geis, good that you see how the same person can speak double standards in just the same forum but difft topic. Thus always if you are a Buddhist, follow only the Buddha's teachings while maintaing respect for other religions. Never attempt to rojak other religions even as entry to Buddhism.
Buddhism has a full system from preschool to phd, the Buddha's teaching alone is suffice for buddhists. =)

when we read something, are we interpreting it based on the conditions and context at the moment of it being written?
Or are we applying our own conditions and context at the moment of it being read?
Or are we applying our habitual tendencies, without even noticing the current set of conditions?
or doesn't matter, for this too shall pass?
like i mentioned before, i started with Tao Te Jing in this journey. Its 'my' compulsory prerequistics :P
May all be well and happy!

just happen to be two.
they are not as entry. but for certain realisation stuff, ok to investigate. but enff said about this form of practice. u may listen/watch the Diamond sutra explaination by the Zen Korean monk, i posted for detail. up to u. Ven CK before practicing PL, he teach ch'an too.
then how u know there's not?
When you decide to become a Buddhist, you "Gui Yi" or seek the three refuges. As as you understand that is your final refuge, then you know you're are a Buddhist.
Can't say the same thing about Yi Kuan Tao though, but seeing ordinary chinese praying at Waterloo Kwan Yim Temple and see them praying at the Indian Temple next show the tolerance and acceptance of the chinese culture which is a combination of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. Remember, Buddhism is a foreign religion imported to China unlike the two.
Chinese Buddhist temples very chinese, one cannot divorce from inherited or contemporary culture.
Off topic, is there a problem in posting in this forum?
meanings can be constructed as well as deconstructed

I started reading manga (e.g. 好å°å, 三眼童). That lead me to è”¡å¿—å¿ series of comics on Eastern Philosophy. And then to Buddhism. Do we have to advocate reading manga 好å°å, 三眼童 as entry and foundation to Buddhism? No need to go one big round isn't it? Go straight to Buddhism.
