Those who use fake quotes are slandering the Buddha. Those who slander the Buddha are creating very bad karma.
Buddha:
"Monks, these two slander the Tathagata. Which two? He who explains
what was not said or spoken by the Tathagata as said or spoken by the
Tathagata. And he who explains what was said or spoken by the Tathagata
as not said or spoken by the Tathagata. These are two who slander the
Tathagata."
So everyone please be careful next time.
p.s. that site is great
I like the fact that it's educational as well. Unless a person is really, really serious about buddhism and the texts it's kind of tough to expect them to care to quote the suttas word for word I guess, and oftentimes our own leanings and values tend to sneakily distort what we say especially when it comes to the more universal aspects such as love, kindness, compassion etc.
The best way is still to embody the teachings themselves.
