Hello,
I would like to seek your opinions on something. I am a Pure Land practitioner. A few years ago, I was doing some contemplation on impermanence and then suddenly this tranquil feeling enveloped me. I felt very peaceful and in that state I felt free from desires. It was almost like time stopped, but not quite. However, that state lasted only about 30 seconds and I have never experienced it again after that. Is that what people call "access concentration" or is that "emptiness"? Sometimes I still think back on it and wonder what it is as that was the first and only time I ever experienced it.
How do I experience that state again? I tried contemplation on impermanance after that but I didn't get that feeling again..
my humble opinions... do not dwell on it.
i am a pure land practioner too. jus carry on chanting :)

That is jhanas
Sometime we will have good and bad experience. This is impermanence. :)
If you insist to regain this experience again, this will become a major hindrance to your practice as this is attachment.
Practice with a Ping Chang Xin. Your intention should be to going to pureland at death.
Just my few cents

This is not jhana yet nor is it emptiness, but the tranquilization of mind and body.

During meditation, many thoughts and feelings will arise. Observe without becoming attached or excited, then let go. If you let yourself become attached or excited, the feeling will quickly disappear.
Dragonmaster and Shaolinmaster... Sorry just can't help noticing them
I had that feeling once too. Like you, it never appear again. I guess it's like you experienced a wonderful something, and the feeling of 2nd encounter is never as good as the first. Buddha teaches us not to seek, just put it down. It's like letting go a boat after crossed a river.
