An anonymous person has threatened to attack the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya, a top district official said on Tuesday.
An SMS has been received by Gaya's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj from an anonymous person who has threatened to attack the world famous Buddhist shrine at Bodh Gaya, District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agrawal told PTI.
"We are verifying the call details as well as the caller's identity and his location," the DM said.
Agrawal said the district administration would soon work out details in this regard and take stringent action against the person for threatening to attack the Buddhist shrine.
With regard to security arrangements for Mahabodhi temple, the district magistrate assured proper security.
Agrawal, who along with SSP Manu Maharaj visited Mahabodhi temple to review security measures, said that three companies of Bihar Military Police (BMP) had been deployed there on regular duty. 35 CCTVs are also installed in and around the temple.
A terror attack had rocked Mahabodhi temple two years ago in which a monk and a pilgrim had sustained injuries.
