Glad perhaps that Aik TC and imho other users are keeping this forum section still open.
As Access to Insight is still up despite news of it going into legacy mode, while I pretty much still prefer a good zazen meditation on my cushion or going around with my daily business probably as a computer engineer or buddhist volunteer, the fact is that Access to Insight is still up today is an amusing fact when I thought it is getting hacked sooner or later like the Singaporean E-Sangha initiative years back.
Tried joining dhammawheel.com briefly and helped a British with a now defunct Buddhismis.com forum, as far as my own limited mahayana vows have brought me, sgforums look decent where I can do some sutta study while the newly reelected Prime Minister worries about more than 1.3 babies per Singaporean man and Singaporean woman.
While the Mahayana kept me alive, the Theravada saves my spirit and soul.
I don't know how regular this sutta study may be, yet there's no incoming business on my end today even if I try increasing the GDP per capita single-handedly on my end.
And the haze, goodness, I won't want to drop by Tzuchi's barely complete Recycling and Education Center at Nylect Industrial building today when it is already dusty enough before a laptop if I close the windows and leave the door and fans open, even the mynahs today aren't singing on the window ledges and aircon compressors as they used to.
*Om Mani Padme Hum, thank you in a blessed lunar seventh month the past days*
After months of searching and referencing, I finally re-found this sutra / sutta in English that suggests the coming of Metteyya Buddha; in other words the Basic Buddhism course did teach about this, yet trying to do basic backward engineering - instead of blind faith - it was very strange because the legacy Access to Insight project seems to have stopped somewhere maintaining a status quo today, this sutta is still incomplete on their website being represented partially as Cakkavatti Sutta: The Wheel-turning Emperor. Well, better than nothing at all, it's just that many years ago when I was started out learning more about Buddhism, while the teachings have been meaningfully poignant whether zen, esoteric or hinayana, Maitreya or Metteyya plays an important role in all Buddhist doctrines because without Maitreya, jialat and cham liao because the Gautama Buddha is like a single-point of failure - machiam like a theist God and Jesus Christ that can neither be questioned nor defied - that has already passed on i.e. the moment He passes into nirvana at eighty years old 2500+ years ago, everybody that inherited Shakyamuni's teachings become sitting ducks regardless of how noble Buddhahood may seem.
Well, sitting ducks ain't bad, they are subjected to karma like one and all that's why they are sitting ducks.
It's just that reading a sutta is better than sitting as a duck before a web browser that tries again and again asking me whether I need girlfriends when one was supposedly enough.
Yes, today marks a very important day for organised religion in the Republic of Singapore.
Devas can fall from heavens.
Bodhisattvas can go to hells.
Singtel utility bills must pay. :)
A 2000 year old God don't pay utility bills.
A 2500 year old Buddha won't do insurance payouts.
Experiments are meant to bring us closer to reality instead of further away from it.
I hope you understand what I was trying to do the past two weeks better Weychin and Aik.
Guilty all the same,
