42km is just in the mind, you can do it, if you put enough effort and time to train for it.Originally posted by wuming78:missed it this time, not even the 21 km.
but i seriously wonder if i ever can do 42 km... hm..
did u make any stop and walk?Originally posted by kops21:42km is just in the mind, you can do it, if you put enough effort and time to train for it.
Today weather was quite gd, my form was ok and the road was better than wat I train on...Originally posted by kops21:Well done.
I have a bad day today. I guess we have one of those day one time or another. Anyway, i completed the run, which is more important.

next stop, MR ultra Marathon(25 Dec 05)Originally posted by wuming78:when and what is the next such run? the NB and VGO ones not so soon rite?
I ran too. I had some last minute 2 month training before the run. Thanks to those tips from big boss kops21, manage to run almost entirely but at not so fast pace. The weather is a killer; the East Coast Park route towards Bedok Jetty is torturing. Saw a lot of aunties making illegal u turn there. That power bar gel at 30km is like a turbo boast. The most fun of it, I managed an Asian Games sprint at the last stretch towards the finish line. After that, old man pain starts crawling in. Walked to MRT like a duck!Originally posted by Zogel:HAhahah...me toooo...
Came in so much slower than last year.. =(
Oh well..thats what happens when u start serious training 1 mth before the marathon.
My legs are still aching. Hopefully, i get more training next year!!
Anyone else ran the full marathon?
well done trueno. with better training/preparation, will go for better timing.Originally posted by trueno86:I ran too. I had some last minute 2 month training before the run. It should be a helpful advice rather than tips; he said that in order to finish the run, 30 km mileage clock during training is sufficient. So I trained for once per week for about 2 months, starting from 5km and subsequently incremental of 5 km every week. By the time 6 weeks passes, have done 30km. I ran entirely at night, so I discipline myself not to drink or stop throughout the runs. If not his words, I could have give up cos it's awfully boring to go on beyond 30 km, which already took 3 hours and 50 mins! I went on for shorter run 2 weeks before the marathon, and manage 5 hours 30 min on the day itself. It fits my expectation at least for a first timer and short preparation. Hope it helps!Originally posted by wuming78:2 mths trg? and what tips ah? care to share?
Kops, u are running ultra-marathon?!Originally posted by kops21:next stop, MR ultra Marathon(25 Dec 05)
i think one of the bugbears for working ppl like us is the lack of time (or the refusal to spend limited free time) to train, esp when each run can last for hours!Originally posted by trueno86:It should be a helpful advice rather than tips; he said that in order to finish the run, 30 km mileage clock during training is sufficient. What to do? Daytime have to work man. Actual run just keep pouring ice mountain on the head lor...Originally posted by wuming78:i think one of the bugbears for working ppl like us is the lack of time (or the refusal to spend limited free time) to train, esp when each run can last for hours!
if you have been doing your training runs at night, won't the hotter weather on the actual day in the day (esp since the marathon ends around 10+ 11) affect performance since you won't be acclimatised?
ur training isn't "ideal" but will do given the circumstances. Nevertheless, you did very well with the training you are having.Originally posted by trueno86:It should be a helpful advice rather than tips; he said that in order to finish the run, 30 km mileage clock during training is sufficient. by official definition, any distance 50km or more is an ultra marathon.Originally posted by Zogel:Kops, u are running ultra-marathon?!
How long is it exactly? I only know its longer than a marathon and i heard in some case, it goes up to 100km...
