anyway, i have been wearing the SAF's brooks shoes for running. i regularly run but so far have never went beyond 5 km. been using this pair of shoes for close to a year without problems.
however, after the run today, my toes were damned painful! turns out that one of my left toe went blue-black. nothing for my right, but the toe tips hurt.
is this normal? or does it signal that i should be looking for another pair of shoes? is it normal for such problems to show up only after a long distance run rather than my normal shorter runs?
i am worried cos soon AHM will come. if this pair of shoes does not really suit me, i will prob suffer during AHM. but if i get a new pair, it will not be "seasoned" by then.
any advice? thanks!
blue-black toe nails are pretty common in runners doing long distance. I have my fair share of getting this as well.
foot tend to swell while you are doing longer distance and the clearance between toe and shoe isnt enough. Constant banging of toe and shoe will cause pressure on the toe nails. Normally after a run, your toe will get sore and subsequently turn blue-black. If you run today and get blue-black immediately, that means your situation is very bad and should not be use for any more long distance running.
shorter distance the foot dont swell up as fast, and this problem dont surface.
If you are doing 12km for AHM & 2 weeks to go, getting a new shoe might be sufficient. The trick is to wear the shoe even for normally "jalan jalan" session to break in faster.
If you dont change your shoe, your toe blue-black will get worser and ur toe nails MIGHT DROP OFF !!!
I rather get a few blisters(which heal a few days later) than losing a toe nail.
