SINGAPORE : Chinese action star Jackie Chan is turning into a designer!
After three years of hard work, he has finally unveiled his new car: the Jackie Chan Limited Edition EVO IX which he personally designed himself.
The latest Mitsubishi Evo IX is a fast and powerful car and has been especially customised to Jackie Chan 's taste.
Only 50 such cars will be available throughout the world, and while 49 are still yet to be made, the one and only completed car is currently looking for an owner in Singapore.
And Singapore has the privilege of owning the very first one.
So is this Jackie's new hobby now?
He said: "I said, I gotta make my own car. I have to complete my dream. I know how to say it, but I don't know how to make it. I have driven EVO 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Until the 8th, I don't really like the 8th design. I like EVO 5 and 6...it's more wow! wild! But now it is becoming more gentle, I want to change just a little bit."
But it is evident this vision has ballooned into quite a big project, with Jackie Chan redesigning the entire body kit, changing the engine, and creating a new look.
It's one mad car, he added, as it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in only 5 seconds.
Alvyn Ang, Cycle & Carriage, General Manager, said: "It's faster than some sports car. It's a car that makes a normal driver feel like a rally driver."
But the IX is not an all-new car, which is what the Evo X is promised to be.
The IX is the last Evo to be built on the current platform and added to the fact that this one is a limited edition, the star is confident that this driving machine is going to be the ultimate car collector piece. - CNA /ch
