Some of these statistics below apply to Australians... but nevertheless, this article's an interesting read!

McDonalds, Hungry Jacks and Subway all claim to have healthy options on their menus. We took their claims to the lab and measured the fat and kilojoules.
Figures show 60 per cent of Australian adults are overweight and 20 per cent obese. Experts point to fatty fast foods as one of the main culprits.
Fast food outlets have responded to concerns, promoting new "healthy" menus. Subway was first, offering an alternative to fatty junk food with its salads, rolls and sandwiches.
McDonalds has now added "Deli Choice" to its Salads Plus menu. Far from the traditional burgers and fries, the menu offered a choice of eight toasted bread rolls. Hungry Jack's recently introduced its Fresh News range of five baguettes.
Dietician Sharon Natoli, Director of Food and Nutrition Australia, said some of the promoted "healthy" options were as fatty and calorie-ridden as the normal burgers.
"An average person will be having 8000 kilojoules in a day so if a roll or a Big Mac is giving you around 2000 kilojoules, then you're getting about a quarter of your daily intake in one go," Ms Natoli explained.
We compared the amount of fat, kilojoules and salt in the new bread rolls at McDonalds and Hungry Jack's, along with those in Subway's bread roll range. We also looked at how they measured up against burgers.
