I had my car radio then TV on for the broadcast but after a while, my attention took a natural exit.
Investigations still in progress but no matter, I think the pilots did an excellent job. You saw the ball of fire on TV? And no casualty?? Miracle!!!
Visibility was bad over there, perhaps that's why the plane over-ran the runway. In fact, I didn't know that Pearson was on and off, on Red Alert. But my husband did remind me to park aside if the downpour gets heavy.
Anyways, I have my fair share of swirling and sliding, driving in winter. I only have all season tyres. Do you switch tyres? -
Well, I tend to keep abreast of aviation news as I am a private pilot. Also, it's hard to ignore it when most of the news networks were covering the crash for the better part of yesterday evening. Same here: I only have all-season tires on my "year-round" car, and have experienced my share of slipping and sliding around in the snow. No accidents so far, though (touch wood!).
Speaking of cars, have you decided on a new one yet?

Wow! A private pilot. I have a female friend (Canadian) who has a pilot licence too. She has her own business but volunteers for the Search and Rescue team. She is very stylo milo one and many interesting stories. I really like her, respect and admire her a lot. I guess she is everything I am not....that kind of thing. Just like how I admire guys who are wild and free.....particularly singers who present that kind of persona. It's because I am not and I can't (hee hee)

Well, my nightmarish encounter has to be two winters ago, my car skidded and did a 180. It wasn't even black ice. I think I didn't pump my brakes, instead stepped too hard, so it swirled and landed on the opposite flow of traffic and cross sectional of the lanes. While I was still composed, my legs were shaking man!!!
So far, we have only tested Eclipse and Sonata. Sonata because I am currently leasing a Hyundai. I think Sonata is value for money. It was a V6 and on the road about C$31k The Eclipse we tested was a 4 cyclinder. The V6 would be about C$44k, that's too ex already. The 4-cyclinder is C$32k. My husband wants to check out Toyota and Mazda, so not sure yet which we will nail down for now.
He has to like it because although it is our secondary car, (he drives the Chrysler van), he uses the car during weekends. I am primarily a workday driver and then some errand runs.
Do you have any idea about Eclipse? Mitsubishi is pretty new in Canada so not many people to check with. Most of our friends have the Hondas. -
But the "wild and free" persona exhibited by these singers is, in most cases, completely fabricated for the purpose of publicity and selling more albums. That's not something to get envious about, in my opinion. You should be happy to just be yourself.
I obtained my pilot's license back in 1993, not long after moving to Minnesota. I did quite a bit of flying back then, but the cost of renting airplanes has steadily risen since then and I don't do it as often now. However, I do try to log a minimum of 10 hours of flight time a month to keep in practice.
The current model of the Mitsubishi Eclipse is a real looker! I have not test-driven it, but my insurance agent tells me that premiums on that vehicle, at least here in the US, are pretty steep.
How's your Sonata holding up? If you're happy with it, perhaps you should think about getting another one.
I currently drive a '95 Nissan 200SX SE-R and an '01 Nissan Sentra SE. The 200SX is my "winter beater" that is driven year-round; the sand and salt used on the roads here in winter have done a number on its body, and there are currently rust holes around the wheel arches that you can put your hand through. The Sentra is strictly a "summer-only" vehicle, and is stored during winter.

Don't know about you, but I have left the rat race and enjoying the comfort of simplicity.
Oh, I'm not driving the Sonata now. I have the Elantra but hubby thought will upgrade to Sonata. It tested very well. The ride was smooth, quiet and power, of course. But the 4-cyclinder of Eclipse, pretty noisy, not as smooth and then gave me the feeling of "shaking up". And yes, the insurance premium is also hefty.
Wow!! You really "can" ah!!! Over here, to own a winter and summer car, not only do I need to have a three-garage home, our disposable income will be reduced to a trickle. The idea is really nice and there are people here living it but it can only be a luxury for us. Lucky you, ah, MG. Actually, it is very hard for me to part with my $$$ and let the car be subjected to the salt/winter conditions. I may eventually tell you that we settle for a C$20k car. Like Corolla. Hee hee.
