  Good morning bear!
  
  Have you had your morning coffee yet?
  
  I couldn't open my eyes this morning, although it was way past the time to get up. The coffee didn't help either...now eyes still half closed. I'm hungry. *eat almonds*

  went to town for my chiropractor's appointment, then now back at home..
  
  will have to sleep later coz i'm doing my night shift tonight
  
  but then, that's the shift where i'm in my element

  Night shift means from what time to what time? How many shifts have you got?
  
  If I go into nursing next time, will have to do 3 shifts like Rhonda... Sure got problem sleeping.

  Have been thinking about switching since a yr ago. If you'd remember, one of my early postings was in the club 30 career threads where I asked Rhonda about her actual experience, and she was so kind to type out so much info....I'd still like to buy her that coffee one day. Am still thinking about it. If I switch, will be mid next yr. Then my hubby won't get so many home-cooked meals. Haiya....so many things to consider.
  
  I used to be the night owl...but it's really terrible, made my panda eyes permanent, and I find my days getting very short.

  well, talk to your husband about it... nursing is a calling.. it has to be because it's a tough job...
  
  but if you're happy, i think he'll be glad to cook for you instead

  I've talked to him. Basically, he will support, anyway, don't think he can stop me. But of course, I'll like him to share with me his concerns, whatever they are, and see how to resolve. As for his cooking, erm...unless you fancy fried egg and chao tar fried rice every time.
  
  Not sure it's my calling or not, but I just wanna do something meaningful after 'corporate life' (to quote Rhonda). In those relief missions, doctors and nurses are ALWAYS in demand. I did spend a yr and a half volunteering at a pet shelter clearing dog and cat poo, so I supposed shd be able to take the dirty part of the job.

  My friend is taking up nursing too. She's starting the nursing course (for mid-career switchers) in Poly next year. Have you registered for the course, Wanda?

  well, in uni, down under, alcohol was cheap... VERY cheap
  
  couple that with the lack of skill in games and sports, and a maniac mentality when it came to playing them, put enough scars on my body as a result

  Not yet. that would be by Nanyang Poly, although NAP recently started a nursing dip too. I know there are 2 intakes a yr. Guess it wasn't difficult for your friend to get a hospital sponsorship, ya?

  oh.. has any of your companies gotten themselves conned into getting the "Singapore Quality Class", "Singapore Innovation Class" and "Singapore Service Class" awards?
  
  if so, got anything to share?
  
  coz when my organisation went for the SQC, it was all a pile of rubbish and BS... and when push came to shove, it damaged my organisation badly, and gave people a tool to hit us with...
  
  along with the People De-eloper "award", it caused so much pointless paperwork and confusion, we'd have been much better off if Spring Singapore never existed..
  
  now the management is dragging us, kicking and screaming into the I-Class and S-Class rubbish...

  What I understand about your personality from your postings, seems to contradict that sort of manic you described. (Sorry, I like to observe people's behaviour and personality, esp. in a grp setting )

  Mine tried to get SQC a couple of yrs back, din get which was very malu. Now they're trying PD....hmmm can't even get the easier SQC already, yet wanna get PD?? That's why they push us into attending lousy, useless, elementary training just go chalk up the nec hours for PD....very wayang, coz the essence of lack of staff welfare hasn't change a bit.

  Not sure about the technicalities re: sponsorship, but she got admitted into the course pretty easily.

  i have a feeling your company could not get the SQC because your company was honest...
  
  i've never met a bunch of more arrogant, clueless and useless "auditors" in my life as they pushed their flawed and dangerous "philosophies of working" down our throats...
  
  ultimately, i do hope your management wakes up and realises what kind of BS they are in for... nothing good could have been said about the original SQC award we got...
  
  our No.1 was conned (literally) and taken advantage of because they knew his weaknesses and because he is very gian-png... the whole organisation probably wasted close to about 80 people to work almost full-time on writing a great work of fiction that was the manual.. and in the end, the award became detrimental to the organisation!
