The fall colors will probably come earlier to you, since you're farther north. When the colors peak here in MN, I'll usually take one of the club's Cessnas and fly with a couple of friends up to the north shore of Lake Superior to view the colors. There's a very narrow time window when the colors are at their most vibrant, and people are usually out and about enjoying them, so it does get crowded for these few days on the byways and highways, especially along the rivers and lakes.
I have an el-cheapo Weber gas grill that I'll occasionally throw a piece of meat on when I don't feel like messing about in the kitchen. Other than that, I'm not a big BBQ fan.
You're living in BBQ country and you're not that keen on BBQ?! And here I am, drooling like crazy each time I think of Tony Roma's, man!!

I love 'Sam Lo Yu Peen Hor', which is essentially, white hor fun with tons of dao geh (bean sprouts) and fish slices served atop a banana leaf.
Y'know, I realised that a lot of times the 'single servings' from these zhi char places are more than 'single servings'. For instance, you order one pack of hor fun and you can like split it into two meals. And as for the fried rice, oh man, that's like 2-3 servings! I tell you, we're not eating healthily, man!! -
Aiyah... STarPuppy, you talk about zhi char and I suddenly think of 'Fu Yong Dan'!! (A special omelette with cubes of char siew, onion slices, etc fried in it).
Loooong time no eat Fu Yong Dan already!
