think canoe and kayak are 2 different things, though they look v similar. one's covered and one's open - though i always forget which one's which...Originally posted by Wanda:To canoe now, or rather they call it kayaking, one needs a basic cert...unlike last time, no need cert also can do single canoe in the sea as long as you know what you're doing.![]()

Originally posted by Wanda:Is that how they classify?? But I used to canoe with the 2-bladed oar in those days.
2-bladed is better, more flexible and more balanced development of both arm muscles.![]()
I believe both are seated, at least, that was the canoeing position that I know of. If kneel, will get cramps in the legs...but sitting too long in that position can get back ache. And after, with aching arms and back, still gotta carry canoe back to the shed....siong! Tsk...tsk... that was the part I dislike.Originally posted by the Bear:the structure of the craft is also different..
if you look at the canoe, the fella seems to be higher, maybe even in a kneeling position..
the person in the kayak is seated..
