IN the 9:30 pm news on Channel 5 just now, two more folks have died from Dengue Fever. They had the more lethal version, 'Dengue Shock'. Now, they're putting up posters to educate the public about NOT inadvertently breeding mosquitoes in their homes.
In one estate, there are even volunteers to drive a propaganda vehicle around with audio recordings for the people to listen to, as the van passes by.
And then, two flats in a particular block have notices pasted on their doors - the officers have been unable to get hold of them for an inspection of their homes to see that they're not breeding mosquitoes. -

Dengue has been keeping us busy. We've been transferring patients in and out of our wards. It's been a tough time for us and the Bed Management staff.
Bear, you mentioned that one of your colleagues had Yellow Fever? That must be the Urban Yellow Fever, spread when a mosquito bites an infected person, and then becomes a vector and bites another person, transmitting the Yellow Fever virus. That is how an ailment that plagues Africa could spread to us.
With so many foreigners passing through here, such incidences will soon become more 'common'.
What IF an Aedes mosquito were to bite someone infected with the Yellow Fever, and then go bite another person?
Wah, that person would be super suay, boss! He would kena Dengue AND Yellow Fever!!

Lunch ah? Boring leh. Oh, you mean I went out ah? No lah. Got errands to run (for hubby and son). But along the way, stock up my personal pantry with two boxes of ultra-thin biscotti (cranberries/pistachios). And one box of peanut butter Ritz bits.

Nope, I didn't grab anything to eat. Just drank 250mls of Vitasoy soya bean milk.
