Yo, MG!! Good to see you in here on a Sunday morn!

The corporate culture between US and local firms is as different as night and day!!
I've been employed in both types of firms and I definitely prefer the US way.

My favourite employer is a US firm who believed in empowerment and employee welfare. Due to the large number of Americans and other expatriates in the regional HQ, our culture was almost like an authentic US 'import'!

I loved working there!
And then, the HR management changed and they decided to implement 'local terms', which created massive unhappiness and dissent.

Part of the reason why I find it so hard to acclimatise to the culture in my current workplace is because it's really poles apart from my previous employers. It's totally local, which means, they practice the 1960's style of management with McGregor's Theory X and Theory Y being practiced.

My new ward is much better - the senior management aren't Empress Dowagers. There are still a few senior staff who choose to be nasty, but they're still the minority.
