Who wears contact lens or specs?

If you wear contact lenses (or specs) for short-sightedness, have you ever experience a decrease in your degree of short-sightedness? How do you know it's happening, esp if you wear contact lenses?
Pls share your experience. Thanks.

how to have decrease in short sightedness when you are wearing contacts and specs?
from my understanding u can't decrease ur degree unless u haf some treatment like some special specs or wat.
but i read somewhere that ur degree will tend to increase if you wear specs due to the fact that the lenses only cover part of your vision and as such ur eyes often haf to adjust.
but lenses will contain ur degree cos they cover your vision fully.
not too sure about above, i might be wrong -
wearing contact lens......for 12yrs....
degree is kinda maintained.....no increase
or maybe got increase but i no bother to go check
i can still see bus lumber.... -
me no need specs, can spot chio bus from 50m.

Ya it's true wearing lenses helps to stabilise the degree better...if only I'd started on them earlier. Sigh...
I have come across 1 or 2 friend/relative whose degree did dropped, including one which dropped by a couple of hundred degree. Was told it's rare, only about 5% of cases of decrease in degree, but it's possible. -

my degree dropped by half.. but my ..... astigmatism (is that the word?) went up

Your short-sightedness must be low then. Astig is a bit more troublesome when it comes to wearing contact lenses. -
I suspect we can train the eyes to improve...think mine has dropped by 50 to 75 degree over the years. Or it could be wrong diagnosis by an earlier optician - over correction.Originally posted by tare:damn i must be part of the 95%

Wore specs for 15 yrs.
during school days, the degree kept increasing, nowaday it has stopped.
I think it is more due to yr habits than the specs.
I like to read irregardless whether the lightning is gd enough or not -

Your short-sightedness must be low then. Astig is a bit more troublesome when it comes to wearing contact lenses.
and my degree isn that bad..
100 for the left n 50 for the right
astigmatism 50 for the left. -

u might not need specs if u're short sighted.
But u'd definitely need one if it's astigmatism -

Dun think so leh. When i was young my mom always scold me might as well crawl into the TV set coz i like to sit near near & watch. Strangely, my eye-sight remained perfect.
