Wouldn't it be something like this :
1- Be very flattered about it, esp if she's a cute chick too.
2- Start getting a little worried and annoyed at all the constant attention.
3- Start to feel 'claustrophobic' and have a real urge to have your own 'space' and so start to avoid her.
4- Try to be polite about shrugging her off, hoping not to hurt her feelings and pride in the process, if the bloke's a gentleman.
5- Realise she has gotten over you and start to wonder, drats, did you actually ruin a good thing?
The endless run to - run away from cycle.
With regard to step 5, I would rather deal with the short-term disappointment that I might possibly have let a good thing go, than suffer the long-term consequences of a relationship that isn't working out.
(But then, this might be easier said than done. People tend not to think rationally when they're giddily in love.

here's another bit of news... women do EXACTLY the same thing you just described...
and if the one you pursue is like that, hey, it's not his fault you chose the wrong one to pursue you know? he didn't choose you.. you chose him
or is that one of the things most ladies don't want to face up to?
the responsibility of choosing a guy?
so, let the responsibility fall to the guy.. after all, HE CHOSE ME! and he has to live with the "consequences"
