I don't work on Sat, usually, And yes, I did come back from gai gai then. Went to the opening of Food Republic - a new foodcourt at Wisma which is modelled in the 60's/70's fashion.

i ate breakfast and then had too much coffee at work -
Yeah, the president of that republic is George Quek fr Bread Talk.
We tried hokkien prawn mee (not bad), the signature dim sum from FortunAte (with scallop on top - very nice), Jap food also not bad, the Thai tom yam was so-so...a bit watered down, and there's also a kaya toast corner.
It's a mix of hawker stalls and 6 or 8 mini restaurants (including the dim sum, Jap, North Indian, Thai). -

The decor is quite interesting...some of the items were brought in from Taiwan, with the old red paper/ang pow still stuck to the door or window. Must say it's a breakthrough among food courts, but I'm sure someone will copy the concept soon enough.
