I mean, every year, surely hundreds go through this process. They should've fine-tuned the entire process and made it more user-friendly by now.
OK, someone somewhere in the army is dozing off in their cushy, ergonometrically-correct office chair!![]()
so far, my unit dont have anyone sitting in a cushy ergonmetrically correct office chairOriginally posted by Rhonda:How can the system be so screwed up?

Considering that many high ranking military medical officer sitting in as specialists in SGH and NUH and CGHOriginally posted by Rhonda:I remember that someone, was it dragg?, mentioned in an earlier thread that the CPF board seems to have 'unauthorised' access into his medical records.
I guess it's an 'open secret' that govt agencies here are sorta... how to put it... 'interlinked'.
The army could have easily gotten you to sign some form to authorise them to collect the relevant data from the hospitals. But nuh-uh... they want to cut down on admin work for themselves, so they make you poor guys go running from point to point, like some crazy Amazing Race thing except that it's repetitive and the destinations don't change!![]()
Kinda inconsiderate, hor? Bully NS men!![]()
I remember one American ex-boss I worked for was the Director of the entire ops here. His cushy, comfy office chair costs almost two months of my salary!Originally posted by laurence82:so far, my unit dont have anyone sitting in a cushy ergonmetrically correct office chair
Precisely!Originally posted by laurence82:Considering that many high ranking military medical officer sitting in as specialists in SGH and NUH and CGH
yeap
kinda ironic the system doesnt get interlinked
They really know how to enjoy themselves!Originally posted by Rhonda:I remember one American ex-boss I worked for was the Director of the entire ops here. His cushy, comfy office chair costs almost two months of my salary!![]()
And his office was HUGE! The furnishings inside were also mucho expensivo!!
I was an Executive Sec at that time and his was an office within an office and I sat right outside his office. When he was away on travels, I had to help out with some of his stuff so I revelled in sitting inside his office on his blardy expensive chair, swivelling around, sinking into the plush leather!
That must have been the most expensive chair my bum had the privilege of sitting on, man! *chuckles*![]()
yeap, i just annoyed the staff who made appointments, and the staff at the MRO tow days agoOriginally posted by Rhonda:Precisely!
Moreover, it's something that EVERY NS man needs!
I mean, why can't your unit collate everyone's name and signature authorising access to medical info, then send the entire list on your behalf to the respective hospitals, then the hospitals need to churn out the required info for those on the list ONCE, and then, shou1 gong1, everything gao dim sai!
But, nope... they'll make each and everyone of you do it separately, infuriating the hospital medical records office staff, and generally, sticking to an inefficient system.
Actually, before you went to them, they're probably already annoyed cause imagine the no. of NS men they had to entertain separately!Originally posted by laurence82:yeap, i just annoyed the staff who made appointments, and the staff at the MRO tow days ago
kekekeke
I used to visit Clinic B - Orthopaedic at NUHOriginally posted by Rhonda:Actually, before you went to them, they're probably already annoyed cause imagine the no. of NS men they had to entertain separately!
I really think we have the resources to spruce up the system, make it more streamlined and convenient for all, but someone higher-up is sitting in his comfy armchair and not doing much.![]()
the thing is the powers-that-be have this weird idea of automating performance bench-marking ...... hence all this monkey business .......Originally posted by Rhonda:Y'know, Singapore is crazily making all its civil service sectors, relevant or not, go through what-not ISO certifications and all that. And now, the prison officers have been told that the prisoners are their 'customers'! Have you heard of a more ludicrous thing?

So, I'm sitting here wondering... will the day arrive when we'll become the first ISO-certified country?

the very idea why i love private businesses over civil serviceOriginally posted by Fatum:the thing is the powers-that-be have this weird idea of automating performance bench-marking ...... hence all this monkey business .......
I remember all the time wasted churning out WITS suggestions and such ... why ? ... cos the CO would get a nice little plastic plaque to put on his office, and a brownie point for his annual review ! ......
so people end up going through the motions .......... but then, there's the civil service for you ....
Erm... surprise... private corporations go for these kinda stuff too!Originally posted by laurence82:the very idea why i love private businesses over civil service
if in a business you do these kind of funny stuff, it'll cripple you at most if you are lucky, make you go bankrupt if you are not
in civil service, time comes to a standstill, things dont move on, but it doesnt seems to matter to anyone
