I guess I could. We can schedule as early as 6:30am and then just clock that 7.5 hours. For me 8am to 4pm suits my schedule.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:What's your regular work schedule? Does it change during the year to accommodate the seasons?
My goodness! C$5 for a one-way train fare is rather steep. It seems your city government is not really interested in getting people to take public transportation. Were you able to obtain discounted fare passes through your employer?Originally posted by littlestream:I guess I could. We can schedule as early as 6:30am and then just clock that 7.5 hours. But the population in my sub-division has grown so traffic getting a bit heavy if I leave the house like after 7:15am. Hence, I am targetting to leave home before that. Like this morning, the drive was really nice.
I know you drive to the station and then take the bus, right? That's nice. I used to take the trains when I worked downtown. The train ride is expensive but really comfortable. I get to either read or nap a little. But the train schedules are too restrictive.
You know if I worked downtown, my train fare, one way is C$5. Once, I had an opportunity for a promo but downtown. Even the increment is not worth all the troubles. Hence, money is really not everything. Yah?I like where I am now. Simple, relax and the flexibility. I am so grateful and thankful.
Oh, and how far from the station to your house, MG? And the bus ride?
It's about the rainy season now in Singapore, isn't it?Originally posted by sbst275:Heavy rain
Yeap...Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:It's about the rainy season now in Singapore, isn't it?
It's foggy outside here now...
Yeah, steep but the train very comfortable one. There are other modes like the local buses which ties in with the subway. The fare is C$2.25 one way and one can obtain transfers. There are monthly passes but I'm not familiar with the rates though. And no, the Bank do not have discounted fare passes.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:My goodness! I pay US$64 per month through my employer for an 'all-you-can-ride' transit card, called a MetroPass, that allows unlimited rides on all buses and trains in the Twin Cities metro area. Yes, it's a little on the steep side, but, in taking the bus to work, I don't have to pay for downtown parking, and I save on fuel. It's about a 4-mile drive from my house to the park-and-ride lot, and about a half-hour ride on the express bus from the lot to my office.
What's your commuting distance/time like?
Actually, the Twin Cities 'metro' area includes 7 whole counties which collectively encompass the two downtown areas and all of the surrounding suburbs. The MetroPass can be used in any of these counties. Basically, you can use it on any of the routes operated by any of the public bus and train companies affiliated with the Metro Transit Authority.Originally posted by littlestream:Wah, your metropass is pretty cheap ley. Oh, but if you go outside of metro, you have to pay another zone fare, right?
4 mile ah? So, that's like what? 15 minutes? (Pai seh, not very familiar with Imperial other than the lbs used in supermarkets.) What's the frequency of the buses like?
I am just under 20km away from the office. If hubby takes me, the commute is about 20 minutes. Myself? I take about half an hour.![]()

Yeah! Very very cute!!Originally posted by the Bear:nah.. sloths are kinda gross when they grow up. moss and other insects grow on them because they're too slow and lazy to groom..
they eat toxic leaves because their metabolic rate is so slow, the poisons are broken down before they can actually act on the sloth... resulting in yukky meat...
and they're cute little babies when they're young
they even smile when petted
That's right, my memory fails me. The Yaohan at Thomson Plaza was replaced by an NTUC FairPrice quite a while back.Originally posted by Rhonda:Helloooooo, Night Owls!!
Yo, MG... Yaohan went bankrupt a long long time ago. They no longer exist.
I used to love Yaohan in the old Plaza Singapura.
And oh, you'll be near Clementi when you're back? That's so near Bear and I! We'll take you out!![]()

Cool! According to sbst275, I can take the 52 bus to get to Clementi from Thomson. Looking forward to some real chicken rice with you when I visit next time!
Despite what Bear says about them, I still believe they can be cooked and eaten. The insect and moss infestation only affects the skin, right? The meat should still be clean.Originally posted by Rhonda:Yeah! Very very cute!!It's amazing that they can actually smile!
