off topic remind me of the inefficiecy of calling police .. once two guy was fighting on the top of the double decker bus ...... the bus driver try to stop the two guy and call the poice ... the bus driver lock the bus door so that the two guy wont try to escape ...
guess wat .. after 10 min and numerous ppl call .. no police come ...
.... in the end the driver got to let the two guy down the bus to prevnt further obstruction .. coz the ppl on the bus kpkb .... -_-'' -

perhaps. perhaps not. but there are people who aren't apathetic yet they're mired in the rat race as well. they don't know first aid help to help ...
so as parent you should know what to do ...
is not selfish .... is u must know ....
taxi driver not nurse or doctor .... -
its always best that we learn some first aid so that in times of emergency we could save someone's life.
its always best that we learnt to swim, so that we don't get drown at the pool,
its best that we don't do anything wrong eg take drugs, etc etc...then we don't end up a miserable life and be mark for life..
by then all these aside....
if we saw someone struggling at the pool and no lifeguards around...we saw the float but too high to reach....do we tell that fellow too bad u should know u don't know how to swim and don't take risk....may god bless u, its either u float or u drown...i can't save u...i can't reach the buoy and i need to rush...BYEE!!!!

aiyo...the issue here is why can't pple be more kind when there is case of life and death matter rite in front of u??? can just give some reasons and go off?? even if he really can't, at least do some alternative to help save that life..... -
i already say nobody here say u dun need to know. of course its almost a must to know, but sometimes even that knowledge won't be enuf to help. First-off, I totally agree with MeowSusan's message - that everyone ought to go and learn basic First Aid.
In certain critical incidents, eg. choking, drowning, calling an ambulance won't help because the first 3 mins would be the most critical. Administer the Heimlich Manoeuvre immediately for folks who are choking (there's a special manoeuvre for choking babies), and CPR for those who have drowned.
All said, it would have done the mom well to run to the nearest clinic, if it's really nearby. Otherwise, call an ambulance! Whilst waiting for the ambulance, ASK the operator to tell you what you can do in the meantime. The paramedics are trained to handle such emergencies and there is equipment on board the ambulance that will be useful in such critical situations.
Still, nothing beats having a first-hand knowledge of First Aid. It's one of the responsibilities of being a parent.
