Talking to neighbours can be very useful. My neighbours' domestic helper takes care of our plants when we go on vacation, or give us home-made otah to eat, their son lends us the DVDs his dad bought from his Chinese working trip, or lends us his hamsters to play with. Another neighbour helps to look out for us in case the paper delivery man delivers ST when he's not supposed to. Nice eh?

I talk to selected neighbours here. The pak gua ones, I avoid like the plague and give wide berth. Those who spit in the corridors, I also avoid because they're so helluva disgusting!
There are a handful of neighbours who are pretty nice though. But I never like to get too close to them cause they'll end up being pak gua with familiarity!
But I talk to the hawkers downstairs and in the coffee shops near my area. -

I like how they do it in the US - they go around distributing their baked goods as a way to say 'hi' to their new neighbours, or their new neighbours would hold a housewarming party and invite the neighbourhood.
We need to watch out for each other sometimes. -

my aunt sometimes comes from Muar with too much fruit and the neighbourhood gets to enjoy the local Muar fruit
