It's so outlandish and everything is larger than life, it's funny!
Every week, a surprise ingredient is unleashed at Food Stadium and then a famous chef picks one of the Iron Chefs to pit his skills against.
They have to cook four dishes or more in about one hour. They are sooo fast-thinking, organised, and creative!
I heard that the producers of the show were going to publish the recipes created by the chefs in that show! Can't wait for that book to be released! (Although I sure hope that they'll ship it to Australia then!
)

Also, the contestant from os can challenge which culture chief... So every esp is like a variety of food -

Iron chef japan was very good..
then they had iron chef USA... was... so sucks and boring in my opinion
i love the japanese one... no expenses spared in the ingredients.. from sharkfins... to even natto and milk
and to think chefs can make 3 course meal frm milk or even natto! -
The otherday someone mentioned abt the vast varierty of imported goods we have, it is all because we are blessed to have the world's largest container port...
Also, SG is a duty free trading centre unlike Malaysia which tends to protect their industry, if you read today's newspaper, you would see images of thousands of cars left at Port Klang (Westport Terminal) accumlating dust due to the AP row -

Anyways, it was amazing to watch! A few of the ingredients that were particularly memorable to me were :
- This famous Tofu made with some famous springwater in some rural part of Japan. They went to great measures to transport the tofu to the show, ensuring it didn't break.
- Asparagus! The common green types as well as the rare white ones!
- Beef of a particular species of cows that was sooooo blardy expensive!! It was like eating gold, literally!
They used very expensive, seasonal stuff as well as common, everyday ingredients like radish as their surprise ingredient every week.

In this instance i've made myself more pervertic -

I had an American friend who was pretty obsessed with that show! We used to spend hours yakking on the phone about chefs and food and that show!
Anyways, I was surprised when that friend told me that in an episode, after Bobbie Flay (I think) won a challenge against a Japanese chef, he became boisterous and jumped up on the table and punched his fist in the air several times in a flamboyant show of victory and the Asian chefs on the show were absolutely aghast and horrified at his 'lack of manners'! I was stunned when my friend stated that the way that American chef acted was a huge embarrassment to the US!
So endearing... my American friend had very Asian values and tastes! -

Whoa... such an exciting episode of Law & Order : Special Victims Unit!
A young boy killed another young boy but tried to appear innocent until his evil side was exposed. Then, he had the cheek to act 'innocent' in front of the dead boy's father to taunt him! The dad, in his fury, shot the boy!
You shoulda seen how evil that little boy looked! -
