  Erm... don't think there's a gender difference. But there's a difference if the person's skin is thicker or if he's more muscular and he doesn't relax... the injection may end up being more painful that way.

  Injections that are more than 4mls have to be given at the butt, definitely NOT at the arms... cause it'll be extremely painful otherwise.
  
  Trust me, I know... I prepared a 5ml injection for myself once and out of embarrassment, refused to let the doc in my ward do it on my butt... ended up with excruciating pain that I had to clench my teeth and bear!
