I dont believe that babies scream because they want to... i think babies cry and scream because of personal discomfort or irritations.
i personally believe that screaming monsters are reared not born. I have seen many a kids, with many a parents and you can see why that their children are nasty or screamers. They usually get parents who are usually hot and cold in terms of their approach to discipline. Some parents let their kids do what ever they want, and kids being kids always do something bad, and then bam... lots of yelling when the child does something wrong. Others talk talk talk talk talk, but have no discpline or recourse just talk lol the kid isnt your friend you are the parent.
hahaha having said that my wife has been told off by oldies when she takes the boy shopping. She tells me hes uite behaved and wasnt running around much lol but they say to her "who is the mother here". She is quite hopeless lol. -

I don't ever want to raise a brat! But you know, some things ARE hereditary! A baby's temperament is predetermined before birth, and at the moment of conception, when the cells start to divide and grow actively, the baby's character and mood would already have been formed. You can modify it, but the base, the foundation, is there.
All said, some babies are naturally more fretful than others. -

Yes i do agree with the temperment of a child is all different and predetermined. As such will to a large extent shoukd determine the way you raise your child. And that is the point you must, as much as you want your child to do things your way, understand your child's temperment. I am luck to have quite a passive, happy natured little boy who is quite socilable and very chatty for a little boy. Having said that he is sooo stubborn.Originally posted by Rhonda:

I have never met a kid that you could not bribe when they are crying. One example that i will use for the rest of his life is that 1 time when he was nearly 2 years old, he wanted ice cream, and wouldnt eat his rice. I said 1 more sppon and you can have ice cream.. no... i was determined to win so we had a stand off for 15 mins... finally i gave in, cause he wasnt relening and siad he coul have ice cream. He said no he didnt want it anymore. He just asked for me to hold him lol. I took the tub of ice cream from the fridge and gave it to him... he took it off my hands and put the ice cream back into the open fridge.
LOL took me a while to convince him to have ice cream... not only did he win on the ice, he made me beg him to eat the ice cream...
hmmm you know Rhonda i think i will need help now before he gets to the teens age -

Thing is, I'm very stubborn. So was my dad. When he brought me up, we were often at loggerheads because what we failed to see then was that what we thought was hatred for each other was actually because we were so similar! We were BOTH obstinate! I took after him, I was his daughter, that's why I was as stubborn as him, and that's why we couldn't get along! We were too similar! And we were both bulls who don't back off and stand down. So, we often locked horns and refused to relent.
When I got older, I realised that we were at loggerheads a lot when I was younger precisely because we were similar!
Now, if I get a kid, I pray that he/she won't inherit this trait. But chances are, one of your kids would! It's afterall a dominant trait! Hmm... what... 75% chance?
Have you imagined how it would be like for a parent to have a kid whose character directly clashes with theirs? Hell on earth!

I started reading them after Home Econs. One of my ex colleagues asked, "Are you pregnant?!" Thing is, for stuff like that, it's never too early to start reading up and gaining knowledge. By the time you NEED the information, it's too late liao and you'll be waylaid by too many distractions and too many other stuff that'll need your attention. -
