Hey, I'm glad that you shared with us. Makes me feel a little bit closer to you.Originally posted by littlestream:Oh, behind every success..........there is/are failures!!!
Young and fresh in Toronto, I struggled two years to adjust. I wasn't used to big country, big land. So much commute. And then the reality of DIY. No maids, no parents, no extended family. Everything on my own. I guess you can say I was spoilt. Not having to do chores and the convenience that tiny S'pore presents.
Cooking was another challenge. I know close to nuts. Nothing I cook taste edible. There were occasions that it lead to "fights". One wintery night, I walked off. When young son asked "where are you going, mummy?" I replied "going to die". Yes, I was THAT upset. I guess I could have swept the food/dishes to the floor but I'm not that violent.
But alone in this cold country, I have no where to go. Eventually, I had no choice but to return home, still sad and angry. I felt grieve because my efforts were not appreciated. But I had to laugh when my son saw me and said "Eh, mummy, I thought you went to die. How come you didn't die yet?"
Yes, many trials and tribulations, ups and downs. But through it all, we both stand strong at the end of the day. Now, we have the best time of our lives together!!! And I sincerely thank God and cannot thank Him enough for everyday. I am blessed.
Oh man, why did I reveal so much? Now, how on earth did you manage to trigger that from me?![]()
Dunno... maybe God did and not me... anyway, will keep you in prayers! I do understand how you feel though, no maid, no extended family to help... I remember when I was learning how to cook, my flatmates were very tolerant. But now I do enjoy cooking. I find it very relaxing for some reason.Originally posted by littlestream:Oh, behind every success..........there is/are failures!!!
