Not all cookbooks are inaccurate. There are a few cookbooks I've used that yield great results.Originally posted by the Bear:seems that people say that the cookbooks are all wrong.. everyone MUST modify the recipe to make it palatable..
and some, modify it so much that the initial recipe is totally different from the one the prepared..

Well, that's cause you don't know the joy of holding a cookbook close to you as you sit, legs curled up under you, in some big comfy seat, flipping through the pages, gasping in awe at the lovely food photos, scrutinising the ingredients list and reading the instructions and mentally making 'modifications' in your mind.Originally posted by the Bear:i'd rather use the online versions then.. they're free

Thanks, brey. That is really kind of you.Originally posted by breytonhartge:Dunno... maybe God did and not me... anyway, will keep you in prayers! I do understand how you feel though, no maid, no extended family to help... I remember when I was learning how to cook, my flatmates were very tolerant. But now I do enjoy cooking. I find it very relaxing for some reason.
In canada huh? When my better half and myself are in Toronto next, maybe we could meet up? Been wanting to go back to the USA and Canada for a while now. Its been about 12 years since I last set foot in the USA.
they probably have more descriptive words. similar to english we have sh1t, crap, manure, dung, poo. n dung being used more often for cows..Originally posted by Ferret:No no... I mean, why is there a special word for their poop ?
tried to make the kueh lapis bactavia and it turned out quite well, it did not look like kueh lapis but it sure tasted like it, I did not have the oven heated hot enough so did not get the nice brown layers alternating with the light yellow layers...Originally posted by Rhonda:I love her recipe for Sambal Udang!Exactly the way my grandma cooked it! (But yeah... I modified it a little!

I know what that is like, living alone. I did not mind it though. It was nice. No one to answer to, no responsibilities(except those you give yourself!), come and go as you please.. nice.

Sometimes, if you've lived alone for too long, you end up getting so used to it that you don't really wish to give it all up, even though you crave companionship.![]()
