Heard from the moving rep about a family who lost everything they owned. HHGs (household goods) were on the top deck of a cargo ship going over a large body of water when a storm hit. Everything on the top deck slid off and now rests at the bottom of the ocean.
A friend of ours, when his HHGs were delivered, realised that water was seeping out of the crates. Then he saw a water line about 3/4s up. Everything he owned was water soaked. TV was dripping, bookshelves were all bowed, all gone.
Navy cheapskate mah. All they do is pack our stuff in crates, caulk it, hammer it tight, hantam security seal over two sides and call it even.Originally posted by skeujin:i tght they wer ghost stories...

Sometimes I wish I could just stop moving and settle in one place. It gets tiring and expensive moving as often as we do. I have severe dirt envy man, looking at my friends who have their own homes. Our first move from Seattle to Sg, all our world possessions were in 10 medium sized cardboard boxes. Not enough to fill one crate. Dare not tell you how many crates we fill now.Originally posted by skeujin:har? poor thing. if i was to migrate i tink ill only allow myslf to fill one backpak. tts the thing to do if yr startg a new life rite. all bout letg go

before you make any snow angels, look out for yellow snow ....Originally posted by littlestream:Hee hee, hey skeujin...........that was cute. Thanks for bringing it forth to me eh? Other than snow angels, I don't even know to build snowman. The farthest, perhaps I could do is maybe a snow cave.
But with global warming, we are indeed getting less snowfall and mild winters here in Toronto. My worst experience had to be in 1992/1993 winter. It was so heavy where I lived, we got snowed-in. Can't get out.
I've got pictures of it and it certainly looked like a winter wonderland. People on the streets trying to clear the snow. One guy had business to attend and needed to get out, neighbours, hubby included, went out to help the poor guy. They managed, eventually. It was terrible at that moment but on reflection later in years, what an experience.
What help were you rendering your friend? Or am I being too nosey?![]()

Thank you!Originally posted by littlestream:Hello brey..................
