But yes, I've been following that story, and am frankly surprised that the perpetrator and one of his accomplices managed to flee the country. So much for the efficiency of the much-vaunted Singapore police.

Actually, a few of our politicians have boasted over the news on TV that we're well-protected against terrorists, that we have a system to would deter terrorist attacks, yada-yada...
All well and good...
But then, they cannot protect ONE man from being shot by ONE gunman!
So much for all that boasting!
OK, OK, so different sections are involved and all that... but see my point? -

seriously... the type of arguments will go back and forth.. but think about this: isn't it better to CONTROL the availability of firearms and limit their use to sports within a club?
rather than to allow them to be available freely where maniacs and assassins can get at them?
in the US, what is the waiting time and what are the checks? a few years ago, there were lobbyist trying their damnest to remove all checks citing the constitutional right to bear arms...
remove the two extremes... where there are no firearms and where firearms are freely available...

We low-balled the first one. He was asking between 340-399K. Considering that he converted the 3rd bedroom into a media room, we'd have to spend $$$ to convert it back. (Reinstalling double doors to the room, and hacking the media shelves in what was the closet then reinstalling the closet doors.) He countered with a 385 offer and removed our contingencies. Oh well. I thought they sneaked the entire gun in. And if so, it's appalling cause I thought all our luggages go through that X-ray machine so how could a gun sneak in that way.

heavy machinery... like a lathe...
strip the gun down to pieces and place in parts of the lathe..
you think for one moment anyone can recognise the bits and pieces?
even if it is one whole piece, can every vehicle be stripped down?
having a 100% secure country would mean that everyone and everything coming in and going out be taken apart and checked to heck and back..
