Practically speaking, I don't think there is a 100% foolproof way to prevent firearms from being smuggled into the country. A typical handgun can indeed be disassembled and brought in as separate components, and I doubt that even the security and customs people at the Woodlands checkpoint would be able to identify some of the smaller parts as firearms components. The bulkier parts, like the slide and frame of a semi-auto pistol, are still small enough and could conceivably be hidden in a cavity behind a body panel of a car or truck.Originally posted by Rhonda:Is that how it was done? I thought they sneaked the entire gun in. And if so, it's appalling cause I thought all our luggages go through that X-ray machine so how could a gun sneak in that way.

Take a look at this image of my CZ100 handgun completely disassembled. Aside from the frame and slide, would you be able to identify any of the other parts as being components from a firearm? The other small components could be mixed in with hardware found in typical toolbox, and no one would know the difference. -

speaking of handphones, ... I never change a phone till it dies of old age ...
I've only used three phones in my life .. a 3210, a 3310, and a 2100, the last of which i was still using when i went back for hols last year ....
did get one of those samsung clamshell phones though, lasted for two weeks before giving it to mommy and reverting back to my old nokia ... -

i had a few..
started out with an Ericsson 388.. after a while, it was commandeered by mom..
so i went with a Sony CDMA one.. M1 shut down the CDMA network
got myself a N8210 i accidentally drowned that in a washing machine about a month into its life
so got myself a N8250 which i used for ages.. until commandeered by mom whose N3310 gave up the ghost
got myself a Samsung N200 and after too many drops and a huge crack, kinda went mad on me.. unreliable...
now with a silver motorola v3.. pretty happy with it -
