Yup! Y'know, elindra, I almost kena smacked by mom cause she went to splurge on this diamond pendant last-minute and I looked at it and was not impressed at all and said, "Mom, your Swarovski crystals shine more brilliantly than your diamond-studded pendant!"
Actually, the other day at Tangs, I saw this range of brilliant-cut crystal jewellery from Japan that shone soooo brilliantly, it was mesmerising!

Actually alot of artificial diamonds are really close to the real thing these days -

In fact, my mom and aunt and the jewellery shop salesman were
when I requested for a pair of Crystal earrings instead of the diamond ones! -

some ang moh fella asked to borrow a pencil ... so i kind-heartedly gave him my one and only mechanical pencil from my case .... and went back to work ...
now an hour later i went around the lab and the fellow's gone ! ...
he ran away with my pencil !!! ....

thing is ... the school is wide open ... everyone and anyone can come in ... and people do, all the time ... just last term someone broke into the adjacent bio-chem lab and tried to steal somebody's laptop there .. they were caught red-handed ...
there are cameras all over the place and we have campus police prowling, complete with pistols and bullet proof vests ... but the students are resisting all attempts to introduce gates or limit lab opening hours .... which is reasonable, considering that assorted types of geeks regularly have to overnight in school .... -
