Actually, I love my aunts and uncles... well, the majority of them anyways. They are nice, friendly, humble folks, so I won't mind having a tea ceremony. (Plus, it's an easy way to earn $$ out of serving simple tea!! Profit margin's extremely high!

If you are the elder, you have to bao1 one for the groom and one for the bride. Some give ang bao + jewellery. -

My parents aren't that traditional but I still fell to pressure to please the older folks.
Initially, I just wanted to just do a ROM with maybe 20 peeps. Then my grandma started complaining that we should invite relatives and stuff like that (I guess they know that if they don't insist, I'll never have a dinner of any sorts - Why? Because I hate ceremonies of any sorts. I didn't even want to go for my graduation and my mum had to force me to go! I was complaining because my brother get to skip his 
)
So in the end we settled for an ROM buffet thingy. I don't think I'll be doing the tea ceremony anymore. -
Anyway I'm going to be a 'Jie-Mei' in Nov for one of my good friends
Gosh I'm so glad I don't have to do something like this for my own wedding
But my friend likes stuff like that and she finds it fun -

Wedding dinner is no longer compulsory
You do make money when you have it at a seafood resturant or everyone is generous.
