Hey, peeps! Looks like I've kinda scared some of the blokes in the Dating Forum to change their tack and suddenly claim that they don't mind plump girls that much!

Citing my own experiences, local guys are into that vase mentality, which irritated me no end and only made me want to be as far away from their version of ideal. I wasn't a prissy girl, was a tomboy, able to hold my own. All the intelligent/mental/etc connections and headway made were all lost when you realise they don't think you pretty enough to warrant a serious relationship.Originally posted by Rhonda:

Y'know, there were times when I liked a particular guy and we'd get along very well and all, but then, they'd slowly reveal that they find me too plump and they'd prefer someone skinnier. And then my self-confidence would take a suicidal dive and it'll take a long time to heal...
BUT, these days, I have more self-love than to succumb to that! Somehow, I find it hard to believe that I'm THAT unloveable! Isn't it odd, from one extreme to the other?!
I take that as a blessing.
Maybe it's from all those tears that God slowly forged a stronger heart for me!

I feel the same way too! I might have admired and respected a guy when I first meet him but when I detect that serious serial shallowness about him, I immediately see him no up liao and from then on, no longer hold him in the same regards. -

I guess your BM is telling you that it's time for it to go meet it's maker. We are also looking into a diesel alternative since hubby will have to commute 70 miles to work one way when we move up north. Diesel prices are higher but they give you more mpg's. if I kept it, I would be replacing the engine, with a good secondhand one, but for a bimmer, that is still quite ex. Anyways, my liberating moment was when I travelled to The States! Suddenly, I received looks, men actually looked at me and approached me! Suddenly, I felt pretty! I even found myself walking with a spring in my steps and swaying my hips a bit hiao like that!
That was my Eureka moment... when I KNEW that there are men who aren't as dumb and shallow as the ones you find here.
