Actually I learnt my English grammar and vocab much more from the books I was devouring than from my English teachers. Heck, I didn't pay much attention cause the lessons were BORING.Originally posted by Rhonda:Eh... my generation was taught proper English mah! Honestly, I had no bloody idea about the rules of grammar , or how to identify a noun, pronoun, adjective, consonance, etc etc all the way up to A Levels and beyond. I did learn my vowels from an enid blython story.Originally posted by Fatum:nah ... I still believe in the good old fashioned grammer exercises and drills though .....
I think part of the problem is that the new style of teaching English doesn't involve as much grammer drills anymore ....
I read a lot when young. So I guessed that's where I picked up my English skills.Originally posted by av98m:Actually I learnt my English grammar and vocab much more from the books I was devouring than from my English teachers. Heck, I didn't pay much attention cause the lessons were BORING.![]()

Well i think we are on the fore cog of the wheel... women are indeed empowered (remember that term lol) and now there is more of a reflection upon the boys and young men. Thru empowering the girls at school it has been found that the results for boys has indeed gone down in the edutcational system. There has been a call for more men to take up teaching and provide more of a role model for young men.Originally posted by the Bear:i'm going to be politically wrong here...
they have cards, programmes, incentives... blah blah.. where "women only"
try doing that with "men only" and you'll be hammered with so many rabid "feminists" threatening "legal action" and other things so fast, you won't know what hit you...

Yeah, a verb is a doing word. In its finite tense, it would be procratinate, sleep, etc. If you + ing to it, it would mean a verb in its continuous tense liao.Originally posted by stellazio:all i know is that its an action word..what that means..i'm not too sure as well..
but probaly refers to words like slacking, sleeping, procrastinating, pontending etc when its related to school..![]()
